Hyatt/Westin

I know this question has been driven into the ground, but I was hoping OliveOyl was out there...My friend and I (after leaving Charleston) are going to Savannah for two nights. (now skipping HHI) Anyway, we have a reservation on the 2nd night at the Westin through a friend at an amazing rate. The first night they are sold out, so we thought per OO's recommendation, that the Hyatt was perfect. (I worked at the HR Monterey for 7 years as a concierge) My question is...should we stay at the Hyatt and then move to the Westin (heard it was very nice) or just skip Westin and stay at the Hyatt both nights? I know life is tough (ha ha) but we want the best trip possible. Thank you, Sarah

Honestly Sarah? If you don't mind the move, I'd flip a coin. They are both great hotels.

That's a tough one to answer sarajaneb..! The Westin is a prettier hotel...it's new, new decor, the latest and greatest style-wise, material-wise. The Hyatt is in the style of the 70's Hyatts, atrium lobby, but it's not a big hotel, so a very small atrium. :) It is a very nice hotel, but not as swanky appearing as the Westin. It does have a tremendous advantage in being right in the historic district and a location there that can't be beat. It is far easier to be able to walk right out of your hotel into whatever you want to do, and not have to worry about catching the water taxi anytime you need to get back to the hotel. If you find that you have a river view room at one hotel and not the other, that just might make up my mind. Especially at the Westin you don't want a room looking out the back of the hotel...you would overlook marsh, not alot to see. Then too, by that point in your trip, you might not be up for packing up and moving again, so this might all be academic. Do you have a cancellable reservation?

The Hyatt is in a great location but not nearly as nice at the Westin. What is more important to you on this trip - nice accomodations or a convenient location to all of the sights? For such a short time - Savannah has SOOOO much to see and do - I'd choose convenience over nicer lodging.

I just returned from a Westin. Although it was in Florida I have stayed (as a Starwood member) at several Westins. The beds at Westin are the most comfortable I have ever slept in. If that is important to you to get a good night sleep I would go with the Westin.
