Hyatt Suites in Palm Springs

Happy holidays!

I will be visiting Palm Springs in May with my husband (just doing a 2 night stay since we will be gypsies in SoCal for 2 weeks) .... just wondering if anybody has stayed at the Hyatt Suites and can give feed back.

We got a good rate and stayed there a last winter.

The location is great--right down town. On Thursday, "Village Fest" was at our doorstep.

It is one of those Hyatt's with a big atrium and rooms have furniture from the same period.

Our living room was right off the hallway. We had to keep the curtain closed or passersby could look right into our space.

One odd feature of the room was a coffee maker that made one cup of coffee using a weird set-up of a kind I've never seen before.

We managed to get a proper coffee maker from housekeeping but it wasn't easy.

Also, when we had friends over for wine, housekeeping provided us with wine glasses.

We had a "suite" facing the mountains. The view is great.

It is a "dated" property with a good location and is o.k. for two nights if you get a good rate.

I think dated is the right term to describe the Hyatt in Palm Springs. I would take a close look at either the Viceroy (lovely) or Hotel Zoso in the same vicinity. A bit further down the road, the Parker is quite attractive, too.

How would you compare the Best Western Las Brisas to the Hyatt Suites?

When we stayed at the Las Brisas, our room had the dirtiest carpet I've seen anywhere at any time. (I suppose it has been replaced.)

The only window to our room faced a passage way--we had to keep the curtains drawn.

The breakfast room was a dingy little place where stingy portions were dished up.

The best thing about the Best Western was the area around the pool, which was quite pleasant.

Our "suite" at the Hyatt had loads of space and a great view from the balcony.
