HYATT REGENCY PIER 66 RESORT FT LAUDERDALE

Found a rate of $119 here over the Christmas holidays. It has to be WAY better than the HOLIDAY INN. Any coments of this place? Are there any places nearby to eat etc?

sunniest - It IS WAY WAY better than a Holiday Inn..

We always stay there PRE=cruise-
Has a great newer TOWER area--upon check in , ask to be put in the TOWERS...

Hotel is ON the Intracoastal and rooms have a view of intracoastal or ocean..

Beautiful Pool area with waterfalls..
Great buffet breakfasts ( not included in price of room but still good)...
and a $5 cab ride to the pier if you are cruising out...

You got a GREAT rate=Normally that hotel goes for over $200 PN!!

There is a restaurant adjoinging the hotel ,called the California Cafe, that the hotel offers a jitneyride to...this restaurant sits overlooking the Intracoastal Waterway and has outside dining....We ALWAYS go there pre-cruise as it really sets the mood..and the food is very good..

Here is a link to the hotel---have a blast!

That is a GREAT rate for such an upscale hotel. If you have already booked it, rest assured, it will be a wonderful stay during the holidays. There are loads of restaurants accessible via the Water Taxi (it stops at your hotel and is only $5 per day or even cheaper for multi-day tickets -- but don't lose them!) Also, there are good restaurants along S.E. 17th Street, which is the road that runs in front of Pier 66. If you like Boston-style seafood, check out Kelly's on Cordova Road just north of 17th Street -- it's a small place and the last business on the end of the shopping center (next to a nice liquor store) they have the best onion rings and full bellied clams I've ever eaten. Not exactly cheap, but I'd say the prices are average and you definitely get what you pay for. And if you like specialty beers, they have a wide selection and a full bar. I live in the area and this is one of our favorite restaurants.

I hope you have a GREAT time!

If you have a car, and can get to Atlantic Blvd. in Pompano (one town or so north of lauderdale) check out the Sunfish Grill. Unbelieveable seafood. Take I-95 North to Atlantic Blvd. Go East just before U.S. 1 take a left (if you've gone over the intracoastal bridge you've gone too far) and it's in a small, strip mall type lot. fantastic!
