Hyatt Regency La Jolla
Anyone been to this hotel recently? I've read mixed reviews and we just were given this hotel via Hotwire- so we're commited now! Thanks.

i haven been in the restaurant but not a room. seems nice enough in the lobby. it does overlook a freeway on one side and a business/residential area on the other. i'd ask for a room facing east. convenient area for getting around. several restaurants within walking distance and a mall close by.

Have not stayed there but I can tell you it is great location (betw. freeway 805 & 5), nice lobby, next to a nice sporting club if you are into fitness. The club's pool area & outdoor are nice.
It seems to be better than the Hyatt downtown (by the Convention Center) which I stayed a few years ago. K. |
Yes, I HAVE STAYED THERE A FEW TIMES. Very nice place. Lovely rooms. Beautiful pool. I would describe it as classy and sophisticated. They also have a lovely bar.
There are a few restaurants right there in the complex, one of them is a sushi place, can't think of the name of it right now, that is very popular. It isn't my favorite, a little trendy and overpriced, but good food and cute waiters. There are some other restaurants right there, too. Your location is good for shopping and eating. Univerisity Town Center is just down the street. Lots of shops (Nordstroms) there. Flemings (good steak house) and Harrys American Bar (excellent Italian and one of the bst Cosmopolitans I have ever had) down the street. To the west acrosss the freeway you have the La Jolla Village. Over there they have a farmers market on Sundays, you have a beach for seals, great walking on the shores of La Jolla, and MORE great restaurants. Harry's Coffee shop is our favorite for breakfast, and the Cottage is wonderful for any meal. You also have the Scripps Oceanography Museum up the hill. So, lots to do. You will need a car though. Have fun, it is a beautiful neighborhood. Just out of curiosity, how much did you get the Hyatt for off of Hotwire? And, is there a reason you bid off of Hotwire and not Priceline? I have only used Priceline in the past. |
