hyatt regency chesapeake bay

has anyone stayed at this new hyatt yet? Wondering if it would be good for christmas break with 2 kids.

I doubt it, it opened today! I just got a mailing from Hyatt and it says it has a "water playground". I'd love to hear about it too, sounds nice.

I'm curious too--I've got reservations last week of September.

Check out today's Washington Post (www.washingtonpost.com). The Style section has a report on the new hotel. Sounds nice, but not quite ready for prime time yet. Maybe by Christmas it will be.

Sorry but the post seemed to royally knock it. Family hotel with lots to do for the kids? Sorry - it's not. It also doesn't offer much for the adults since Ocean City is a mere hour's drive away. Cambridge is already going downhill and it seems the post doesn't see much for the Hyatt's future in Cambridge.

I just read the article--thanks for bringing it to my attention. It seems they may have opened a bit too early but I doubt Hyatt would open a themed resort without following through.

Cambridge invented the modern day American race riot in 1963 or so. The best thing Cambridge could do is just buy the thousand or so houses in its worst slums and flatten them. And then buy the slum-dwellers bus tickets, boom-boxes, Glocks, fried chicken and watermelon for the journey.

I read the review in the Post. Friends who live in Cambridge believe by December things will be up and running. The community is quiet and laid back. If you enjoy antiquing and wildlife at Blackwater for the weekend I would recommend. I don't think your kids would enjoy the rural scene.

Has anyone stayed at the Hyatt Chesapeake Bay recently? We are considering staying there for a few days in July with our sons, ages 9 and 13. Also, any suggestions on activities in the area or alternate lodging would be greatly appreciated!
