Hyatt Maui outdoor jacuzzi
 

Do you actually have to use Maui or Kauai Hyatt's spa services to have access to the outdoor jacuzzi? I understand you have to pay to reserve the cabanas and so forth.

No you don't have to pay for the spa to use the outdoor jacuzzi.

Please know that there is a difference between what you might think is a cabana and what the Hyatt considers a cabana. We rented one for $40.00 per day and it basically is two covered chairs, not much better than the covered chairs you find by the pool. We ended up not even using them. They do have two Hales (pronounced Hah-lay) which is more like what I envisioned as a cabana. These rent for $100.00 per day. They were already booked for the week by the time we got there and realized our mistake. On the tripadvisor.com site under the Hyatt Maui review, I posted two pictures, one of the cabanas and one of the hales. If you can't access these or if you would like me to email you these photos, just let me know.

I thought I read somewhere that you have to all day acess to the jacuzzis IF you use the spa. Guess I was wrong.

But, how many jacuzzis are there on the property and is there usually a line?

There was one outdoor jacuzzi and no there wasn't a line. It did seem to have quite a few people in it, but then I was there over Christmas and the Hyatt was booked at full capacity. I was also down there early evening. If I remember correctly, it was open 24/7 (I'm not going to swear to this though), so I think that there are more "peak" times for folks than others.

P.S. I'm glad you read the review? Did you get a chance to see the photos of the cabanas and the hales? They are under the "Candid Traveler Photos"

I did infact see the picture. Thanks for the tip. The informative details you find out from Tripadvisor is great! So, I guess a cabana is basically a beach chair with a shade..hmm would not want to spend $40 on that.

No you really don't. We were soooo disappointed. We had called the hotel about 2 weeks prior and reserved them for our first full day since we figured we would have jet lag. We were so excited that morning. Had breakfast at the Swan Terrace and then walked outside and met with the folks who were to show us to our "Cabana". Imagine our surprise. They weren't even as comfortable as the pool chairs and where they are located on the beach is just not that great (although you will find most people don't like the beach directly in front of the Hyatt anyway). It wasn't until later that day when we were walking the beachwalk that we saw the "Hales". They were SO awesome and I loved the location/view. When we go back, we will definitely rent one of those. I hope you enjoy your trip. I'm jealous. I can't wait until we go back again.
