Hyatt and Ritz 5/20 to 6/5

Well, we finalized our trip - the Hyatt from 5/20 to 5/31 (Priceline-$160) and the Ritz from then thru 6/5 ($800 incl car)for our 15th anniversary.
Read this board daily and would appreciate comments on these two hotels.
Last time (May'01)we stayed at the Sheraton, so I am hoping the Hyatt is as nice (understand the beach isn't). The Ritz was such a bargain we couldn't pass it up.
Thanks

Forgot to mention I used http://www.betterbidding.com/ to get a bidding strategy. Great site. Another one biddingfortravel.com exists but the moderator is an unholy B%^ch. How is the Hyatt compared to the Sheraton-Kaanapali...thanks!

Sheraton is nicer, better located to food and shopping, and has a nicer, wider beach, plus Black Rock, one of the tops spots for snorkling. This is based on two trips to the Ka'anapali areqa in 2004.

I've stayed at teh Hyatt 3 times and I would recommend it to anyone. It's a beautiful hotel and I think you will find it lovelier than the Sheraton. Though the Sheraton is nicely located next to Black Rock they Hyatt is a more beautiful hotel.

TravelsHappy, the OP has finalized his/her plans and was looking for assurances that the Hyatt is as nice as the Sheraton.

TravelsHappy Feb 16th, 2005 12:20 PM

Interestingly, someone always tauts Hyatt, and says it's nicer than any other hotel. It's bigger and more spread out, that's true, but nicer, no. And the beach is so-so. I've checked Hyatt for conferences, and at Sheraton, and several others on that beach. Sheraton gets our vote. But it's all still Maui, and that's what counts. I'm sure either hotel will be okay for you, so enjoy Maui.

Plans are made only to change when new info. is acquired, which I was providing. I could have reassured her, of course. But as I said, either will work.

Changes are not possible when purchased through priceline.

Don't worry. You'll love the Hyatt. AND you got some GREAT deals...
Many people consider the Hyatt the nicest
all-around property along Kaanapali. Read the Tripadvisor reviews and I think you'll be reassured.

Don't worry! The Hyatt is great! I never understand the complaints about the beach. If you aren't happy with the area in front of the Hyatt, all you have to do is walk a few yards to a wider strip of sand. It's not like you have to drive 10 miles or anything to a better bit of beach.

Sheraton is a nice hotel too--I love it as well. But wanted to assure you the Hyatt is VERY nice, will give you a VERY "tropical" experience, and I don't think you will be dissatisfied at all.
