we are staying at the Hyatt in Maui, Kaanapali Beach. We are going in Sept. Has anyone gone in Sept because I was wondering if there will be alot of kids during that time? I wouldn't think so because of school starting back up.

tammy-
i may be wrong, but if your goal is to avoid kids, i would not choose the hotel chain best known for its great kids programs and really fun pools and slides at virtually all locations. there will be kids around. you may want to look at kapalua area as that is more adult oriented at the ritz and the sheraton kapalua bay and the condos...

Hi Tammy, I am going in September also for my honeymoon. I heard great things about this hotel from people who have stayed there when school is in session. It was honeymooners who were there in November and Oct.

I was there last week - lots of kids but the place is big and you really don't even notice. I don't think you would have any prob. in Sept. Did not like the Hyatt Luau or the $12. per day resort fee. Valet parking is another $10 per day.

Do you have to valet park? Is there achoice to self park?

There are two lots to self park for free. The one in front fills up, but there is a second one convenient enough in the back.

I'm also going on my Honeymoon in Sept and staying at the Hyatt in Maui, Kaanapali Beach and also the Hyatt in Kauai. I wouldn't worry about the kids, my friends have stayed their in Sept/Oct and most kids are back to school. The hotel is so big and for the most part the kids aren't nearby. What is the deal about the $12 per day fee resort fee(What is this for?)isn't that included in your package? The $10 valet fee, is also a bunch of crap!!!

We were at Hyatt-Maui last wk. The $12 per day is crap. The parking lot closest to the motel was always full so we used valet parking - my husband didn't tip since they were already getting $22 per day. We were booked in a dbl mtn view room. When we got there they did not have a dbl in this category so they put us in a king with a sleeper sofa and would move us the next day.The room was beside the elevator and the balcony was looking over a brick chip roof 2ft below. I called the mgr. & told them I knew they had a dbl room somewhere in the 800 rooms. After a slight argument they moved us to a dbl w/part. ocean view. They should have done this to begin with.

You picked the perfect time to go. The fall is when kids just get back to school and it's wonderful. I have been many times at that time of year and it is my favorite. The Hyatt is a beautiful hotel and it's just been re-furbished. The beach is so-so but walk two minutes and you are at a better part of the beach. I went this past May and hopped all over the island. We have decided that Kaanapali is our favorite area. We stayed at the Ritz, Kapalua Bay Hotel, Kea Lani and the Westin Maui. I was hoping to go back again in October but it looks more like next March when it is a real zoo there. Time won't permit me to go back sooner. I have spent approx. 5 months there in total in the past 2 years so if you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
