Hyannis to Martha's Vineyard Ferry
 

My wife and I are going for a day trip to MV from our hub in Truro this summer.I'm looking at the Hi-Line ferry from Hyannis to MV. It is $69 roundtrip PP. I then looked on the Hi-Line website at their commuter books. They have 10 one way tickets for $160. We are thinking we might try to find someone who needs 6 one way tickets and split the cost. I know the cost difference is small beans, but in these times.....
Does anyone have experience using these commuter tickets? Can we make advance reservations with them and are there any restrictions? Thanks for any input.

No experience with the commuter tickets...

But have you considered the Steamship Authority? Their ferry from Woods Hole to the Vineyard is only $15 round trip per person. You can use the link below for more info...

Not likely to work.

Hy-Line tickets in commuter books have your name on them (I just went and looked at mine).

When you make the reservation (can't rely on walking up for any given sailing), you will be asked for your name and a credit card. When you tell them you are using a ticket book instead of a credit card, they note that.

Then when you get to the terminal and exchange the ticket from the ticket book for a boarding pass, they match the names.

You might get away with it once if they are really busy, but why would I pay you for a discount ticket book if there were some danger I might not be able to use it?

Take the Steamship.

If it is a nice day, try swimming...if the tide is right you might get there in 3 or 4 days
