Husband's 50th in SF
We are going to Davies Symphony Hall for a Holiday Jazz Concert and would like to have a nice festive dinner at a nearby restaurant. Any suggestions?
|
Would you want to eat before or after the concert? If before, you should probably stay in the neighborhood. If after, you can go anywhere in SF!
|
THE place to go after the symphony or opera is Jardiniere, which is just across the street from either venue.
What is your budget? Hard to tell with "nice festive dinner" what you might be willing to spend. :) |
We would eat before the concert and our budget is about $50 to $75 dollars a person and would have our 15 and 17 year old sons. We would like to be in the neighborhood, maybe park the car once and walk.

Here's my suggestion, very close and great, but reasonable -- Paul k.

Your parking will be along Grove Street. There's the Performing Arts Garage (Franklin and Grove) which is covered parking. You can also go further along Grove where there are several open air parking lots.
Jardiniere is on the corner of Grove and Franklin right in front of the Performing Arts Garage. Here's a list of restaurants near the SF Opera (Davies Hall is just across the street from the Opera House, so these restaurants work just as well for a night at the symphony): http://sfopera.com/p/?mID=63 |
Absinthe and Jardinaire are relatively close. Zuni Cafe is several LONG blocks down Market St., but is a "special only-in-San-Francisco" kind of place. Good hamburgers, fries, chicken, but it takes awhile, so arrive early! Good luck!

Thanks! I will post when we decide which one!

You can check out restaurant reviews at sfgate.com. I usually find their impressions to be quite reliable. Have a great time!
