Hurricane report
Doing fine in Fairhope. Not much of an event--thank goodness..Dennis went onshore with 120mph winds between Pensacola and Navarre but the eye was very small and fast
|
Friends and family in Gulf Breeze, FL all report that this was certainly nothing compared to Ivan. Trees are down, etc. but they didn't get that awful storm surge.
|
While Dennis was supposedly much bigger and stronger than Ivan, so far all the reports seem to be coming in that there is far less damage than with Ivan. What great news.
I suspect the worst is yet to come as it plows northward dumping rain, floods, and tornados! |
It looked like Dennis would be worse than Ivan but it miraculously dropped in speed and intensity just before it came ashore. Thank goodness...
|
Hearing reports of damage in inland counties but less than Ivan.
The analysis of Dennis wil be interesting |
Good news, Fairhope. Thank goodness the Alabama coast made out so well. Sounds as if Navarre took the major brunt.
What's left of the eye should pass over our town in an hour or so. Right now, lots of wind and rain, but thankfully still have power. When we get the 50-70 mph winds, I imagine that will change, as trees and limbs come down on power lines. Byrd |
Thanks for checking in Fairhope. We expect that our friends in Fairhope had left - but good to hear the damage was no as bad as expected.
|
Montgomery came out well. I've seen a few big trees down, but nothing compared to Ivan. We're very thankful.
