Hudson Valley/Hyde Park

After Labor Day, Going to Hyde Park area for 2-3 days. I’ve searched but would like to hear from Fodorites about suggestions for lodging and dining. I’d like to stay around $150-175 for lodging. In the Woods B&B looks interesting in Hyde Park, also open to nearby areas.
Looking for a nice restaurant, maybe outside seating, nice setting/charm if possible.
Not sure of itinerary...definites are Roosevelt home, Bridge across the Hudson.
Thanks!

FDR house (Springwood) limited tours Fri-Mon only. Eleanor house (Val Kil) and Top Cottage still covid closed. Vanderbilt house open/closed the same days. FDR library partially open (no films or audio visual stuff running) limited capacity. Must prepay everything at least a week in advance to get tickets.

Exterior of Springwood in shocking dilapidated condition.

In that case I’ll plan on being there on a Friday. Thanks..

I believe there are only a few rooms included in the current house tour (which did not work with our Wed/Thurs visit). It’s really not a good time to visit the area, but we were there for another reason and went ahead with whatever we could salvage here and at West Point. BTW: driving is exhausting in this whole area, 10 traffic lights and 100 driveways per mile.

We took a weekend trip leaving from NJ.
We stayed at a family run motel, the Roosevelt Inn at Hyde Park. Very clean. Very nice.

We visited the FDR home.

My favorite was visiting Eleanor's cottage Val-iyll.

We ate at the CIA three times -

It was a perfect short trip.
There were other things that interested us, but we ran out of time.

There are several nice places to stay in Rhinebeck, just north of Hyde Park, and several nice restaurants as well. I can't think of any names at the moment but a few searches should help.
Rhinebeck is a charming little town with some cute shops and galleries. I think it's more attractive than Hyde Park and is certainly close enough to all the attractions in HP.

Thanks for the tip on Rhinebeck. I think we’ve decided to stay there instead of HP.
