Hudson Hotel
Can anyone who has stayed there please tell me if there are hair dryer in the room? Not listed on thier site & can't see one on the vitual tour.Plus I don't know where they'd put it the rooms are soooo small.
Any interesting tidbit's about the area you can pass alog e.g. places to get breakfast so forth would be helpful. Thanks. |
Last time I was in Edinburgh I stayed there. IIRC the bathrooms were reasonable size and there were hair dryers.
I had breakfast at the hotel restaurant. I have a list of Edinburgh restaurants somewhere - let me dig it up for you. Also, you might get more answers if you post this on the European forum, and put Hudson Hotel, Edinburgh Scotland in the title. |
I assumed they were asking about the Hudson Hotel in Manhattan??

You can email them with your question. The rooms are famously small. But you are in New York City..who cares? :D |
The hotel's restaurant and bar are considered quite good (and trendy). Nearby Whym is a good restaurant. You're not far from the Time Warner building on Columbus Circle where there's a Whole foods market in the basement that has take away food of all kinds.
The 6th ave. Cafe and MoonRock Diner are nearby for breakfast. Look up details in menupages.com |
If there's not a dryer in the room you can always ask housekeeping for one.
|
Now do I feel silly. I had Scotland on my mind, saw Hudson Hotel, and assumed Edinburgh. I didn't pick up Manhattan. Mea culpa.

Thanks
Sorry I should have not assumed you know it was Hudson Hotel in NYC, I forgot this shows up on the US post not just NY. mclaurie; Thanks for mentioning Whole Foods, we have them here in Texas .. Is there a Sturgeoun (sp?) king deli near? Think I read about it. Also in another post I mentioned asking for an upgrade & you suggeted contacting the hotel in advance. I did. They said upgrade to two double beds $90 @ night. No go, for me. I think I'll try again when we check in. I've had it happen before, when the hotel had the room open anyway. |
The Sturgeon King place is Barney's Greengrass on the upper west side near the Museum of Natural History. Nearest delis to you are the Carnegie and the Stage. I don't think that either are known for smoked fish.
|
Not that this is important to anyone else but me,but I got an email back from the Hudson(NYC) there are hair dryers in the rooms.
Maybe it's just me..... that Sturgeon King is really expensive. $26.00 for a Nova Scotia Salmon platter. |
The platters are huge and come with 2 bagels or bialys. They're really for sharing. One person could never eat the amount of "stuff" on the platter. In fact, if you order another bagel or 2, more than 2 people can share.

Thanks,
I see.And sharing is fun.I think we'll try it. There are two of us.It doesn't seem to be very far from the Hudson. Having bagels & smoked fish, to me is something you need to do in NY, like eating good Pizza, riding the subway & walking the Brooklyn Bridge. |
