Hubs: which ones are easiest?
 

We found changing at Atlanta to ne a real pain. Unfortunately no direct available. <BR>How is Memphis? Cleveland? Phoenix? <BR>Thanks!

I hear Cincinnati and Baltimore are pretty easy to connect through. Avoid Detroit at any cost.

Minneapolis has always been fairly painless for me.

We also find Mpls. very easy and frequently go through there when flying to other places. Also love the Mpls. Airport.

Jeez -- Atlanta is a breeze compared to most airports -- worst in my book are Los Angeles, Miami, SF, JFK, and (worst of ALL time) Dallas Fort Worth -- avoid DFW like the plague, especially if flying American --

I love Atlanta!!! <BR>It really is so easy to get around in (fast and painless) - pretty to boot! <BR>Don't let it overwhelm you. <BR>Maybe it has to grow on you... <BR>I like Charlotte for USAir. <BR>Orlando and Tampa are quite easy to get around in as well. <BR> <BR>I'm with Patrick. <BR>LAX, DFW, IAH, JFK, EWR, and, for god's sake, MIAMI are far worse! <BR> <BR>Haven't changed planes in PHX, CLE or MEM...

DFW isn't bad, the people mover is a little slow & will be redone soon. The restaurants with delivery to the gates, the signage is better, and people are friendly.

So what's wrong with changing in Detroit? Never have, but will have to in April to take NW to Germany. I was already dreading it, but now...

Haven't connected thru DTW either, KK... <BR>My main concern would be weather if you're traveling in a "questionable" season...ie. SNOW <BR> <BR>(I grew up in Kalamazoo!)

Charlotte via US Air is so easy you forget you're connecting!

Phoenix is easy if you are on the same airline (probably Southwest). <BR> <BR>Cleveland - same; not hard if on the same airline <BR> <BR>Not sure about Memphis, but would suspect it would be easy since it is smaller. <BR> <BR>Detroit - What a nightmare. Not bad if your connecting gate is nearby, but I'd allow a lot of time. The Wall Street Journal said Detroit was the worst, in part because it had the longest distance to the gates. <BR> <BR>

DFW not so bad? You've obviously never been through there with a quick connection. Some connections are at distant ends of the planet and the people movers are slow and infrequent. Worse, if you're on American, you can count on the staff to be unavailable, unhelpful, even hostile if you ask for help in making a connection. <BR> <BR>Once had a 5 minute connection after a delay and of course the gates were at opposite ends of two different terminals. I sent my very fit 14-yr.-old son to run ahead to the gate to tell them his not very fit mother was moving as fast as she could from Gate Whatever, and they yelled at him, told him he had to decide to board or not, they couldn't wait for his mother, too bad. This after the oily-voiced attendant on the incoming flight had promised "personnel will be waiting when you deplane to help get you to your connecting flights." No one there, of course, and gate attendants kept saying, "you'll have to wait, ma'am."

I live in a small city in MI and always have to connect in Detroit. <BR> <BR>In the winter, it seems like Detroit has a lot of cancellations. The later in the day the more congested the airport is and the more likely your flight will not leave on time. Get an a.m. flight if possible. <BR> <BR>On top of having long walking distances, from gate to gate, the airport was very run down looking. The last few times I have been through, I have noticed new coats of paint, renovated bathrooms, and Northwest is building a new terminal in the middle of the airfield. They have also increased shuttle buses running between the terminals, yet not everyone realizes they are available. <BR> <BR>Atlanta is nice. Minneapolis is nice too, but I was stuck there for 4 days in a blizzard in 99, and we did have some problems there with cancellations last month (although they were all "labeled" mechanical)

If you are flying Delta, try to connect through Cincinnati. Nice airport, easy to get around!
