How's the Weather in NYC like in Late October?

Got a trip planned for late October. Can you tell me what the weather tends to be like in NYC during that time of the year. I'm just trying to plan on what clothes to take on the trip.

NYer's might disagree with me, but I go to NYC every year in late October and I always bring at least a light jacket. Sometimes I even need a heavy jacket as it's been in the 20's that time of year before. However, I come from a warmer climate, so I'm not used to the cold.

If you're dressed appropriately, though, NYC is very nice that time of year. Cool, crisp days with cooler evenings.

You could always check weather.com just before you leave, as well. It comes in very handy.

Weather in Manhattan in late October is very pleasant. During the days, it will be in the mid to high 60's and maybe in the 50's in the evenings. Not much rain during that time of the year. Definitely bring a light jacket.

The weather here will be fantastic and the trees in Central Park will be changing colors. If the temp is in its usual 60-70 degree range during the day, I suggest you bring mainly lightweight, long-sleeve tops (like button-down cotton or something like that). A light jacket is a must for the evenings.

Thank you all for your input; it definitely helps.

We're visiting NYC again in late October. Usually it's sunny and pleasant, but could be raw and rainy. You never know, though, when there might be a spell of Indian Summer with highs in the 70's, or a spell of early winter-like weather, chilly and crisp. For clothes, the ubiquitous layers are essential. I'll be packing the usual clothing plus at least one warm sweater, a blazer, a casual jacket, and a raincoat. Depending upon the weather, I'll add one or more to whatever I've planned to wear for the day. Since black is always "fashionable" in NYC, I just make sure everything matches everything else.
