Wrong forum, Budman.

Holy Guacomole! I've been reading this thread and staying out of it, but I'm going to throw in my two cents worth. I didn't know it was illegal for a parent to slap or spank a child. Ryan, you did not witness enough to know what was going on in that room and are not in a position to judge the parents. If you thought abuse was occuring, you should have complained of a disturbance to the front desk and they could have done something about it, including phoning, knocking on the door or calling the police if necessary.

I have to add that my Mom was visiting our house once, sleeping in the room below our bedroom and our dog had a grand mal seizure in the middle of the night in our room. The dogs legs batted on the wall; he whimpered; he made quite a racket for a few minutes. My mother couldn't imagine what was going on and decided we must have been beating one of our children!!! I could not believe she would draw that conclusion as that was never our parenting style, but what else was she to think all that horrible racket was? I realize there wasn't a dog in the room at the hotel, but I am saying you wouldn't have had a leg to stand on in a court of law.

And...the Fodors Judges now issue a 9.7 for "Stream of Consciousness".

Nice work, Orcas.

I still think that action, sometimes the wrong action, is better than no action. I'm on Ryan's team. This is a great social commentary.

To the person who thinks hitting kids is okay. Probably because you were hit as a child, so this is "normal" for you.

A coupla posts above, somebody noted that it follows generations. True. Same thing with sexual abuse, verbal abuse, abuse in general. It's better to get involved and be wrong than not to get involved and have it occur right in front of you.
