How To? Traveling with a trailer or boat
I am moving with a Uhaul trailer. I thought about stopping to see the sights along the way but I am uneasy about driving through city streets.
When backing up, the trailer sometimes fishtails instead of backing up straight. How does one remedy this. For example, when backing up straight, what should one do if the trailer starts to bend to the left (driver's side in the US). If the driver tries to back up left, the trailer deviates even more. If the driver tries to back up right, the wheels drag(?).
Should the driver try to back up left a bit then drive forward/right?

When backing in and the trailer starts to go to the left, cut your wheels to the right. If it goes to the right, cut your wheels to the left. Make small adjustments to start and you willl gradually get the hang of it. If it has swung too far in either direction as you start to back in, pull forward and start again.
The others are right in suggesting you practice in a parking lot.
