I'll tell ya, on a day like this, it will not be too hard to say goodbye to this weather!
I love this thread and all of these wonderful suggestions!
This weekend when most of the packing is finished and the Yankee has time to spend with Pup and I...we will start at the first list and go through them all So that would be saying goodbye to Gus the Polar Bear first

Scarlett, one of the last things I'd do is get into a cab and head down to Hop Shing in Chinatown for dim sum and a last meal, if you will (the subject of an entire post in and of itself). Having grown up in NYC and left 7 years ago (has it been that long!) i can speak from experience: no matter where you go, be it SF, LA, Miami, i don't care... you will miss NYC chinese food. I wish you lots of luck. I've never regretted making Denver my home.
Best,
flop

Hey, at least you won't have to find a new hairdresser!
BUT....bagels are never as good, no matter who's moved where to start up a bagel place.
You can't find those stores where they sell whatever SWAG came down the alley that week.
But you know, you'll be able to go back for quick trips and enjoy your favorite spots and not have to deal with all the drama and all (like trying to find a parking spot on the Upper West Side on Sunday for brunch...you can take a cab!)

Scarlett, I totally understand what you're going through. I bid goodbye to New York in September -- and moved to Beijing China! Take comfort in the fact that New York is just a short flight away (AND no time difference). I miss my local shops the most: Ottomanelli's, Joe's Dairy, Soho Wines and Spirits, Jefferson Market, and ok Gourmet Garage (it pains me to admit it!) See an old movie at Film Forum for me and have some of their delicious popcorn. walk down fifth ave. through Washington Sq. Park to Soho. Have breakfast at Le Pain Quotidien (how I miss their organic boiled eggs). Spend an afternoon gallery hopping in Chelsea and top it off with something sweet from the Little Pie Co. I could go on and on but I'm getting too homesick. Remember: New York will always be there for us! At least that's what I tell myself. Bon courage.

Scarlett, as a Montrealer who loves Florida
(remember me ? discussing montreal restaurants last summer)
I want to wish you best of luck with your move; you'll only be a 3 hour direct flight with Montreal, so I sure hope you return to visit our lovely city. !!!
We are going to Boca Raton over the holidays and we have many friends who have homes in Florida and spend part of the winter there; there's just no getting used to the cold and slush...........
All the best of luck to you and your family on your move; keep us posted on how it goes !

Mitch!! Of course I remember you! You gave me such good recommendations for restaurants in lovely Montreal.
Thank you so much for the good wishes, not to worry, I made a pact with the Yankee, we still have to fly up to Montreal in the fall, I love it too much to say goodbye..
