how to meet the rich and famous...

Does anyone know where the rich and famous hang out in South Beach or Miami Beach? What are the chances of catching a glince of someone? Where would one go for more info on this?

We don't want to be recognized when we're out. So we go to discreet, out of the way resorts for vacations and stay out of the traffic stream at reliable, discreet restaurants. As for clubs, the trendy clubs in Miami change constantly, as in NYC. Which makes going out less risky for the recognizable celebrity.
If you want guaranteed high mileage view access to celebrities, book a room in Cannes during the Film Fest. More recognizable faces than Dennis Rodman tattoos.

Why are you people so rude? If you can't help someone else out with their question, just keep your mouth shut!!!

Judi,

These people who just post to attack people need to get a life!

I've been to Miami several times, and the best advice I can offer is to frequent the cafes along the South Beach strip, where you never know who may show up. There is no specific place to see famous people, it just happens by chance so hanging out there will increase your odds. There is also a magazine called Ocean Breeze, which highlights trendy spots and would be a good resource for ideas. Also, look for clubs owned by Ingrid Casarares- her 'close friends' are people like Madonna and Rosie O'Donnell and they show up at her club often. Have fun!

Correction to my last post! The magazine you want to find is called OCEAN DRIVE, not Ocean Breeze.

The Delano Hotel, maybe a late lunch on a weekday, or a late night drink and cigar at the bar. You will FEEL like one of the R&F even if you don't see any. There is a water taxi tour you can take that takes you past many of their homes (from the water-side) -- but it is unlikely you'll see anyone out on the lawns, or near their boats.

To John:

Judi cares where the R & F dine, which is why she posted in the first place. She would like to surround herself with beautiful, intelligent, rich people, instead of common trash like yourself. Who can blame her? And, if you don't care where they dine, why did you read this thread? Duh!

The Rich and Famous are normal people just like you and me. They don't particularly appreciate being stalked or focused on when there out on the town. How would you feel if every where you went people stared at you or followed you. If you cross paths with a famous person, just act natural. In all likelihood you probably won't recognize them without the makeup and if you do don't do something stupid like asking for an autograph or humbling yourself. I assure you they just want to be left alone and they don't have the time to get to know you.

The stars must be in alignment. I've just read an entire post by AMS which is devoid of any type of irrational or paranoid reasoning, which is insightful and with which I entirely agree. What does this mean? AMS? That you? A new leaf, perhaps?

judi: would you please post your home address - we'd like to come by and take photos - have long lenses, too, that get great shots right through your windows - infrared, too! - and let us know your favorite restaurants - the ones you enjoy with your significant other, best friends, and family members - we would very much like to catch a glince of you...

Hey Miami -- living currently in the Los Angeles area for many years and seeing MANY celebrities myself in the grocery stores, etc., when they do NOT have the benefit of special lighting and makeup (yes, even the men!), I can assure you that MOST of them are quite nothing to look at! Beautiful? Oh certainly -- Harvey Keitel and Bette Midler are the spitting images of Tyrone Power and Sophia Loren! Intelligent? Very few! Rich? Without a doubt -- thanks to their overindulgent and overinflated salaries! And, I can quite assure you, if you saw me in person you would know immediately that I am NOT common trash, which I CAN'T say for many of the celebs I see today, i.e., Courtney Love and Madonna just to name a few!! You're welcome!

Thanks for all the sincere replies to my post! I am astounded at how a bunch of adults can take a simple question and turn it into a complete bitch session! Believe it or not, I'm not a raving celebrity stocker! The only reason I posted the question in the first place is that the girlfriend I'm travelling with gave up back stage passes to see the Backstreet Boys so that she may travel with me! (I know there will be some of you who feel the need to make fun of this as well - go ahead! You don't bother me!)I thought she would enjoy eating in nice restaurants and dancing at trendy clubs where the well to do are known to frequent. This wasn't as ridiculous a question as some of you are making it out to be. I think it is you who don't have a life! What...? Are you jealous that I'm planning a wonderful vacation to hot and sunny South Beach? A friend of mine just came back from a modeling session in Miami and happened to meet Jennifer Lopez, Christina what's her name as well as a few other celebs. She was waitressing at a club at the time. Just because we want to spend our vacation enjoying the best of what Florida has to offer does not make us lunatics! I thought Fodor's was a forum for advice on trip planning? If you want to BITCH I suggest you find yourself another chat room or forum! None of us travelers want to hear what you have to say! You're just wasting our precious time! Those of you who posted such nasty replies ought to be ashamed of yourself! You are obviously all very unhappy, negative people who have nothing better to do with your time than to make fun of other people! I feel sorry for you all and will not think of you once while sipping on a refreshing cocktail at the Delano! P.S. Forgive me if I forget to give your regards to Madonna! Ha! Ha!

Judi,

I suppose I understand your frustration at having been the butt of so many jokes and unkind remarks. Believe me, I've endured quite a few quips on this forum.

But if one wishes to be taken seriously, one doesn't help matters much with all the name dropping, and mentioning the friend who went to a modeling session with some celebrities doesn't make you sound very confident about yourself. And I hardly think celebrity watching (or rich and famous watching) is "the best Florida has to offer." I think part of the problem here is that you gave the impression that you wanted to meet celebrities, not that you wanted to eat in nice restaurants and dance at trendy clubs. If that is what you wanted to know, perhaps it is best to just ask it that way. So enjoy your vacation to Florida, so long as you promise not to bother any of the celebrities you see. No gawking, either.
