How to keep luggage safe on Road to Hana?

Message: Hi everyone,

I just booked an overnight stay near Hamoa Beach for next month (thanks here_today_gone2Maui for the recommendation!).

Since we'll be driving the Road to Hana directly from the airport, we'll obviously have all of our luggage with us (luggage for a family of 4 in an SUV).

We will want to make a few stops both on the 1st day (Blue Pool, black sand beach, etc.) as well as on the 2nd day as we travel around the South side of the island (O'heo Gulch, Pipiwai Trail, etc.).

I've heard you have to keep your vehicle unlocked with no belongings inside to avoid having your car broken into. We obviously won't be able to do that. Any ideas on keeping our luggage safe? I don't think we'll want to have a designated "car sitter" at all stops... and I'm sure at a couple locations we'll be gone 1-2 hours. Suggestions?

Thanks!
