How to get to lower Manhattan from Port Authority

I will be arriving early afternoon at the Port Authority Bus Terminal. I'm staying at the Wall Street Inn, nearest subway stop is Wall Street. Do I take the A, C, or E train one stop to Penn Station and then the 2 or 3 train to Wall street? How far would it be to walk to Penn Station from the bus terminal?

Also, I'm a senior citizen. Can I buy a reduced fare MetroCard from the ticket machine? Thank you.

According to Google, you can walk to Times Square and take the no. 3 to Wall St. I believe that senior discounts are only available to residents. I do not recall that option when purchasing tickets from a vending machine.

You can apply for a senior card by mail , photo required, and there is an option to have it top off when it gets below a certain level of money. Google “Metro Cards Seniors NYC.”
Our cards are renewed every few years automatically. We do not live in the city nor state which other cities require for these discount(50% most rides)cards.A good deal.

Warning about the reduced fare metrocard... my personal experience is that the process takes about three months from application to receiving the card. Apply early.

Why not just walk east on 42nd St to Times Square and catch the 2 or 3 there?
