How to get to Brooklyn from w 54th
Staying at Warwicks on 54 west with a group from San Diego. Want to go to Grimaldi's with about ten people. What would be tne easiest transportation? Have researched all the places for dinner. Love great hole in the wall restaurants with good atmosphere that you love going to with friends. Prefer good Italian and money not a problem. Thanks

The best way to Grimaldi's is subway. Take the C train at 50th & 8th ave. to High St. Brooklyn. It's a short walk from there.
There are good small Italians all over the city. Try Otto's at 1 Fifth Ave. right at Washington Square Park. Excellent pizza. Piccolo Angelo is another good village option. |
You might also consider switching over to the A train (or catching it at Columbus Circle) because it runs express to Brooklyn. This will save you a little bit of time.

Take the subway as folks have outlined. We took both the water taxi and the train. The train is substantially cheaper and faster by far.
You might consider a walk back to Manhattan over the bridge at night. It could be an absolute delight. Once you cross the bridge the 6 is right there. I think it requires a transfer to get closer to your hotel as to my memory it runs along the East side of the park. |
4Janet,
Click on my name. I posted walking directions from the subway (A/C train) to Grimaldi's sometime in the last week. |
Thanks Suzanne I've got the directions and I'm sure I won't have a problem. We are a group coming for the Charger-New York Jets game and to see your wonderful city, eat good food and party a little.
