amwosu,
I agree about the Elk Camp/Two Creeks side of the mountain at Snowmass. It is a much less crowded base area. If I do the close-in parking at Snowmass, I prefer that area to any other for parking. I need to clarify that the word "crowded" is a very relative term. I find ALL of Aspen/Snowmass to be very UNCROWDED in comparison to the front range areas that I usually ski such as Copper Mountain and Breckenridge. You can easily waste 15 minutes every run waiting in lift lines at those areas. I've never waited more than 5 minutes EVER, at any lift in Aspen! |
I've never waited more than 3-5 minutes anywhere in Aspen either and we only ski there at peak holiday times. Its so far from everywhere that the only people on the mountains are those staying in the town. No daytrippers from a big city. And I find the lift operators the friendliest anywhere. Lots of international college students on their "summer" break from halfway around the world.

Hey amwosu,
Thanks for all the great information. You too furledleader. I'm heading to Aspen in February as well. I'm staying at the Sky. Everyone I talk to and everything I read, says it's "hip". Not sure I know what that means, or if I'm going to like it. Price was right though. Aellis, sorry to ambush your post. Sounds like you're not going to Vail. I was there a coule of years ago and it was awesome. Maybe next year |
