How to dress for Yellowstone in August

Headed to Yellowstone Aug. 21. What types of clothing should I bring? I am packing jeans, do I need shorts too? I know to plan to layer, but will I need long sleeve as well as short sleeve shirts? I tend to be cold natured.

Definitely bring shorts and short sleeve shirts. Also, bring a jacket/fleece. The mornings and evenings are cool, and you'll want a jacket. But the days and afternoons can be very warm.

You can expect really cool nights in higher regions of the park and just outside such as Cooke City. However, even at the high elevations afternoons are usually warm and sunny, with an occassional afternoon thundershower.

Yes, bring long sleeves and jacket as well. Be prepared for most anything. One of my office mates spent this past week there and just got back - said Jackson was 31F one morning! (Unfortunately she didn't bring back any of those cool temps)
