How to avoid time in lines at Disneyland
 

Pick the right day, arrive early, use the single-rider line, go to your highest priority ride first.

There's really no way to avoid the horror of Disneyland rides these days. Going when the annual passports are blacked out is a help I suppose, because the park is not as full of those Disney fanatics who know all these tricks and whisk by the first-timers like whirling dirvishes.

PRETEND you need a wheelchair; some actually do I gather.

Going as early as possible helps a lot. Crowds pick up notably in the afternoon, at least in my experience.

I think if you stay at a Disney brand hotel, you can enter the park one hour earlier than the masses on select days.

Don't go on weekends. Ever.

I haven't had that much trouble waiting in long lines except for a few select ones, like Peter Pan. Single rider is usually really useful.

Get there when it opens. Head to the back and work your way back to entrance. Worked for us.

There is the fast pass... That's where you sign up for a certain time to ride the ride. When your time comes up... You get to go in the fast pass line, which is much shorter.

Also, it's much shorter to ride rides when they have parades since everyone would rather see the parade... Just make sure that you are in the general area of the rides you want before the parade starts because you will be locked in and very hard to get to another area.

I think the lines are shorter at night. Everyone is arriving early because they are so excited to get there. They run out of energy and did everything they wanted usually by the time the last parade is over. That's when most of them leave..

Also, during the fireworks... Don't think you can ride any rides on the other side of the castle during that time. They all close in fantasy land. During the fireworks, I'd head to adventure land.

If you want to eat at any of the restaurants... My favorite is the blue bayou... Make a reservation right when you get there. The blue bayou is inside of the pirates of the Caribbean. It's like a New Orleans type... It's cooler inside there.

When I gocu head straight for pirates of the Caribbean... It will have a line no matter what... The ride is inside and away from the heat...

After that, go to Indiana Jones and then splash mountain...

Once you've gone to these rides, take it easy and see the rest. Plan your day to where you stay in each land so you're not spending all your time walking back and forth. I'd stay in adventure land and frontier land then go over to fantasy land. Tomorrow land from what I remember is actually yesterday land since time has caught up to it and surpassed it...

Watch your back packs while you're standing in line. Someone unzipped mine that my husband was wearing. He didn't even notice because it's such close quarters and people constantly bumping into you... They stole my purse that was inside... While in line just carry it in front on you.

Dukey, as someone with mobility issues who has to use a walker and rent a scooter at the park, I can only hope you are kidding about pretending to need a wheelchair.

Jean was posting an article with tips, not asking for advice. Wheelchairs don't get you out of lines, They allow you to use elevators to go around stairs, and/or sent to a separate line for them to load with assistance on some rides.
