How safe is Metro on Washington DC

Hi,
How safe is the metro to use in Washington DC, through the day and at night. One of the days we are in Washington, we are going to a Redskins game. Is the metro the easiest and safest way to get there ( we do not have a car whilst in Washington). The game is on a sunday at 4pm I believe.
Any help much appreciated.
Thanks

Perfecctly safe for a large event at that time. Very safe most of the rest of the time, though as in all cities, some stops are safer than others. But unless you got lost, you wouldn't be going to the unsafe areas.

We never felt uneasy riding the Metro and we had our 2 young daughters with us, along with my mom. We had a car while in DC but parked it the entire stay and rode the Metro. It is the easiest way to get around. As with any large city, just be aware of your surroundings at all times. Have a great visit!

Be sure to check out the info on the Metro stop, etc... here: http://www.redskins.com/fedexfield/p...irections.html. Metro would be easiest but it is a bit of a walk.

Entirely safe, whether on a big event day or not. Rest assured.

Felt very safe riding for our week in DC, with three young kids. Very easy to get around.

No bodily danger, but theft of small electronic devices, phones, tablets, etc., is on the rise. Metro advises keeping them out of sight while riding and especially when you are near the doors, as thieves grab them and dash when the doors open.

It's safe, but it's also a LONG walk from the nearest Metro stop, so wear comfy shoes and carry as little as possible.

The Metro is very safe, just use some common sense as kayd mentioned. I traveled alone both early in the morning and as late as 11:30 at night. Never even felt uneasy.
