How much time would we need for Devil's Tower?
 

We'll be driving from Spearfish, SD to Jackson, WY in late May and I'm wondering if a "detour" to see Devil's Tower would be worth it. How much time should we allow for a "drive by" or a hike around it? Have been researching other posts but found no info on amount of time to allow. Thanks!

Unless you are planning to climb it (!), you need about 20 minutes in the Visitor Center and about two hours at the site if you want to hike around it & go to the Prairie Dog town. Maybe 2 hours combined is enough. I hope you are driving through Spearfish Canyon. That is beautiful!

Thanks for your quick reply, Laurie. I was hoping 2 hours would do it. What/where is Spearfish canyon? I'm not familiar with it. Would love more info.
