how much time to visit pedestal at Statue of Liberty

I plan to make a reservation to visit the pedestal at the Statue of Liberty. Then I think that I will visit Ellis Island with my granddaughter so that my daughter can go and see the 911 Memorial. I think I need to make a reservation to visit the 911 Memorial. So does anyone have an idea about how long we should plan for the statue visit to the pedestal and then time to return and then walk to the 911 memorial. thanks,

I would get the earliest reservation you possibly can for the SoL and follow it up with Ellis Island. It will take at least half a day to see both, maybe more like two-thirds. You'll probably want a couple hours at each, plus there's boat travel and security checkpoint time to take into consideration. If you can't get a reservation until late morning or early afternoon, you'll either have to do the 9/11 Museum first or pass on that option entirely.

I could only get a reservation for the pedestal at 11, I am going to continue to watch to see if something opens up.

Maybe go to the 9/11 memorial first, then head out to the Statue and Ellis Island.

Am I mistaken, or is a reservation required only for the 9/11 Museum? I thought you could just walk up to the Memorial.

It is recommended to make a reservation for the museum but not needed for the Memorial.

If you're just visiting the 9/11 Memorial and not the museum, you could easily see that first. It's outdoors and you can go there anytime, no reservation needed. Maybe get there around mid-morning to allow a leisurely look around, than walk to the SoL entrance area? Looks like it takes ca. 15-20 minutes to walk between the two according to Google maps.
