How much time should I allow for making connection at O'hare
I've not heard good things about O'hare airport, but it appears that I'm going to have to connect there for a flight I'm taking in December. Does anyone have an opinion as to how much time (at least!!) to allow for making my connecting flight?

I appreciate your insight :)

As the saying goes, it depends. Are you flying the same airline or changing carriers?
|
And what airline are you on? The terminal for United is by far the largest.

Frankly, I don't think it's NEARLY as bad as DFW with its linear design.

I would never book a connection anywhere with less than an hour, unless there were hourly flights to my end destination. Don't trust the airlines to be on time...

And it's December, so there's the weather...

HTH,
Racy

If you're flying the same airline, you can be somewhat comfortable that the airline is providing enough time in their published schedule. I've had weather problems at O'Hare before but it wouldn't have mattered if I'd built in extra time because I STILL would have been late!

I'm flying with American Airlines - although the first leg is American Eagle and I don't know how big a difference that is as they are part of the same conglomerate. Let's assume that weather is not a factor...1 hour? nothing less than 2 hours? what does anyone think?
|
I think you're fine with one hour. Delays are not nearly as bad as they were a couple of years ago and you should make the connection easily.

If you have a 2-hour option, you may want to choose it just for peace of mind.
|
I am flying United in December with a layover in Chicago also. I have a one hour layover but feel comfortable with that as it is the same airline. Have fun.
|
The airlines have a minimum layover. I don't think you need to worry about it (unless you have some sort of physical disability). You will already be through security, so that is not a concern.
|
Typically the commuter flights like the "Eagle" use a different concourse than the jets so the walk may be a bit further. I'd still think an hour is fine barring anything unforseen like weather. Honestly, I think Ohare gets a bad rap and most of its easier to transfer in than some other large airports I've been in.
