How much time for Hurricane Ridge, Olympic National Park
We'll be spending one night in a cabin at Lake Crescent. If we get there around noon, what would you suggest in terms of an itinerary? Should we just drive up Hurricane Ridge and poke around? How long will that take? Or should we try to see more? We like to hike (short hikes) and bike. It'll be in August, so it won't get dark till nine or so, right? We'll have to take a ferry at noon the next day (Port Angeles), so won't have much time in the morning.

Presuming you are driving from the Seattle area, you will pass through Port Angeles (gateway to Hurricane Ridge) on your way to Lake Crescent.
It takes about three hours to drive to Port Angeles from Seattle From Port Angeles it takes about 45 minutes to drive to Hurricane Ridge, where you may take a hike of any length that pleases you. From Port Angeles it takes about 30 minutes to drive to Lake Crescent Lodge. From Lake Crescent there is a delightful hike to Marymere Falls, which passes through a forest that gets almost as much rain as the Hoh Rain Forest. We also enjoy the hike to Sol Duck Falls, near Sol Duck Hot Springs--a few miles west of Lake Crescent. |
