That is the box office price for the top seats. So assuming you are talking about top priced, good seats, then go for it.

As Patrick said, that's the top price at the box office for "regular" tickets.(There is also a special block of the best tickets which are available for $480!) Of course, you can always buy the cheaper seats in the balcony. <BR>Even without Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in the cast after March 17, you're still not going to see tickets for The Producers available at discount rates for quite a long, long time!

Why are you posting this crap again? People constantly bring up this stupid topic over and over. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TRAVEL.

Maybe not to you, Wild Bill. But I travel to New York at least once a year. And the only reason I travel to New York is to see theatre. So for people like me, Broadway Theatre questions are the equivalent of New York City travel questions. Now, please get on your horse and ride off into the sunset and let the rest of us discuss travel. What did your comment have to do with travel?

Patrick, although you and your "long-time companion" may like visiting New York to see shows, asking how much tickets cost for a show is not a travel related question. Maybe you should find a broadway forum and go troll around there.

Sorry, WildBill, but you're wrong here. The price of a theater ticket is just as travel related as the price of hotel room or an airline ticket.<BR>As has been said ad infinitum on this forum, if the subject doesn't interest you, just bypass the thread.

Sorry, Wild Bill, you, of course are right as you always are. I am at fault. I must also remember that travel includes flying, but asking about the cost of the plane trip should not be discussed either. And of course, prices of the hotels are not travel related questions either.

Some people actually have budgets for leisure. These stupid questions about the Producers have been posted in one form or another for months now, and they're all basically the same question, i.e. "How much should I pay?" The tickets cost what they cost. If you're trying to get discount seats to a production like this right now, you're an idiot, because they don't exist. I'd suggest that looking at websites regarding broadway productions and ticket-seller sites is the better way to look for information about this. And under the "logic" of the vast majority of you, if you ever go anywhere and have a question about anything in that place, it's "travel related." Great, let the dumb questions begin. How much does it cost to see a movie in ____? Where's the nearest post office to my hotel in ______? What time does the mall close in ________? How much is a ticket for the ________ game?

Well, Wild Bill, I guess you and I are different. If someone posted here and said they were a movie goer but on a limited budget and wanted to see a number of movies in French while in Paris so he asked what movies in Paris cost, I would not be the least bit upset. If I knew the answer, I'd post; if I didn't know the answer, I'd skip over it. The same is true of the other "dumb" questions you mention. One of the reasons I love this travel board is that such questions can be answered. If I need major definitive questions only about specific places, then yes, I could search and find other boards, but I like the fact that here people can pass on simple information that may be hard to find elsewhere. Since that seems to be much of what this board is, and it offends you so greatly, perhaps it is you who needs to search for a new venue.<BR><BR>By the way, I think it is funny that you are complaining about no one but Howard and myself posting anything near an answer to the original question, although Leslie also added some information. Here's the question, are the current ticket prices justifiable for the performances of these actors?

Leslie, you've asked a question that's impossible to answer, since neither of them have performed the show before an audience!<BR>I will add, however, that I think the show is such a strong one that it'll thrive and still be a damned good show even after Lane and Broderick leave. For example, I've gotten feedback that Lane's understudy Brad Oscar (who normally plays the German playwright) has been outstanding filling in for Lane.<BR>I guess what I'm really saying is that, assuming the new leads do a good job, the show will still be worth the money!

Howard, thanks for your opinion. My reason for asking the question is that Steven Webber is not a first-rate Broadway actor. I don't think he would have been the first choice for Broderick's role if Broderick hadn't been considered. I think Webber is more well known for being on "Wings" and some other cancelled comedy. He may very well be excellent in the role, I just don't know if he will draw an audience, or if is the show and all of its Tony awards that will actually draw the audience. As a frequent theatre goer, you just know that you're going to see a great performance if Broderick or Lane are in a show, because they are great Broadway actors. But, I will be interested in reading the critics' reviews.<BR><BR>Now onto WildBill. It's quite obvious he isn't from New York, because New Yorkers are proud of New York, and will answer any question regarding tourism, especially in NYC. My hats off to all of you. Now WildBill, notice the "Wild" in his name, he's more like a chimpanzee with a banana scratching himself in a cage looking for attention. He's a freak of nature, and belongs in a side show. He couldn't even get himself a cage in the Bronx Zoo. Such a pity.

By his not being a first rate actor, I am assuming you mean that he is not as well known, not necessarily any less talented.<BR>No he may not draw a crowd, but I think what Howard is saying, The Producers is now a show that doesn't need name talent to draw the crowds. The show will stand on its own merits and is sure to sell out for a long time.
