How much should I pay for the Producers
Hom much should I pay for the «Producers» ?
Is $100 for May a good option ?
That is the box office price for the top seats. So assuming you are talking about top priced, good seats, then go for it.
As Patrick said, that's the top price at the box office for "regular" tickets.(There is also a special block of the best tickets which are available for $480!) Of course, you can always buy the cheaper seats in the balcony.
Even without Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick in the cast after March 17, you're still not going to see tickets for The Producers available at discount rates for quite a long, long time!
Why are you posting this crap again? People constantly bring up this stupid topic over and over. IT HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH TRAVEL.
Maybe not to you, Wild Bill. But I travel to New York at least once a year. And the only reason I travel to New York is to see theatre. So for people like me, Broadway Theatre questions are the equivalent of New York City travel questions. Now, please get on your horse and ride off into the sunset and let the rest of us discuss travel. What did your comment have to do with travel?
Patrick, although you and your "long-time companion" may like visiting New York to see shows, asking how much tickets cost for a show is not a travel related question. Maybe you should find a broadway forum and go troll around there.
Sorry, WildBill, but you're wrong here. The price of a theater ticket is just as travel related as the price of hotel room or an airline ticket.
As has been said ad infinitum on this forum, if the subject doesn't interest you, just bypass the thread.
Sorry, Wild Bill, you, of course are right as you always are. I am at fault. I must also remember that travel includes flying, but asking about the cost of the plane trip should not be discussed either. And of course, prices of the hotels are not travel related questions either.
And sorry to you, Howard, that I nearly repeated what you said. How strange that when I posted, your message did not appear on my screen, yet it did appear after I posted my message, apparently about an hour and a half after you posted yours!
Could anyone please explain why someone who hates questions about cost of Broadway shows would bother to click onto the post to begin with? Is he so stupid he couldn't figure out that "How much should I pay for the Producers" was a question about the cost of show tickets? You are a sorry loser, Wild Bill. Why don't you go start your own website for other losers like you.
Good job Curious. Thanks for making my point for me. Even you, the idiot you are, wouldn't answer this original post, because it's not travel related. By the way, under the logic of Patrick and the gang, we should ask Fodors just to start a separate board about the cost of Broadway Tickets. And then another board about the cost of cab fares to/from the hotel to the theater. Then another one about the cost of hockey tickets to the Garden. And then.... well, you get the point. Stupid Question for this Board.
WildBill, did you not understand that Curious was not agreeing with you? His wording was very clear.

I don't know what the cost of $100 tickets are worth. They are worth more than $100 if you want to see this show with Nathan Lane and Matthew Broderick since they leave the cast very soon. By the way Lane and Broderick leave the show prior to May.

Are questions like this valid? Absolutely. It's also valid to ask questions about the cost of gasoline in a particular area. Some people actually have budgets for leisure. Its valid to ask the question on the European board if its worth going to the Crazy Horse or Lido in Paris and those tickets can be very expensive too, so why not ask a question about theatre tickets?

WildBill, you are a boor and a bore, you opened a thread and made a comment that was not a contribution to the thread. One can only hope that when you ask a question that you get responses that say "This has nothing to do with travel."
Hey Wild Bill why don't you slink back to the dirty old men's lecher forums or wherever you escaped from. You have some type of major personality problem, buddy.
Please, Wild Bill, post some more responses here. You get funnier with each one. What a complete idiot you are!
"under the logic of patrick and the gang, we should ask Fodors to start a separate board. . ." What??? How in the world did you reach this conclusion just because they say that this is a travel related post? Who in the world is talking about it needing a separate board except you? Obviously you are too dumb to even figure out what this board is all about. Your sense of logic is humorous at best, idiotic at worse.

And what do you mean that Curious couldn't answer the original question? He didn't need to as patrick already answered it in the very first post. It was a simple question which received a simple answer -- just like some things can work on this board. You are the one who started the idiotic posts. After patricks and howards posts, this whole thing was over. Question asked -- question answered. Too simple for your simple mind?
Anyone ever notice how many of these rude and insulting posts and protests deal with the New York questions? Anybody want to make a bet that Wild Bill is a New Yorker, probably one of those that get upset when people say New Yorkers are rude?

I'm with you, laughing. For Wild Bill to even make a reference to anything involving "logic" is hysterical, considering he doesn't have a logical bone in his body.
Thanks one and all for making my point. Except for Howard and Patrick, no one has posted anything even near a response to Anthony's original question. And no, I'm not from New York, not that there's anything wrong with it. These stupid questions about the Producers have been posted in one form or another for months now, and they're all basically the same question, i.e. "How much should I pay?" The tickets cost what they cost. If you're trying to get discount seats to a production like this right now, you're an idiot, because they don't exist. I'd suggest that looking at websites regarding broadway productions and ticket-seller sites is the better way to look for information about this. And under the "logic" of the vast majority of you, if you ever go anywhere and have a question about anything in that place, it's "travel related." Great, let the dumb questions begin. How much does it cost to see a movie in ____? Where's the nearest post office to my hotel in ______? What time does the mall close in ________? How much is a ticket for the ________ game?
Well, Wild Bill, I guess you and I are different. If someone posted here and said they were a movie goer but on a limited budget and wanted to see a number of movies in French while in Paris so he asked what movies in Paris cost, I would not be the least bit upset. If I knew the answer, I'd post; if I didn't know the answer, I'd skip over it. The same is true of the other "dumb" questions you mention. One of the reasons I love this travel board is that such questions can be answered. If I need major definitive questions only about specific places, then yes, I could search and find other boards, but I like the fact that here people can pass on simple information that may be hard to find elsewhere. Since that seems to be much of what this board is, and it offends you so greatly, perhaps it is you who needs to search for a new venue.

By the way, I think it is funny that you are complaining about no one but Howard and myself posting anything near an answer to the original question, although Leslie also added some information. It has been answered, what more is there? Perhaps Anthony didn't know what the regular cost of the tickets would be and asked here because someone has offered him some tickets at that price. Perhaps he is a traveler and familiar with this site, but not a major theatre goer and unfamiliar with theatre websites. You are the only one who started a shift from the original topic. All the other responses have simply been a result of your deviation from the topic.

Curious has the best point of all. Could you please explain why you ever clicked on to this question, since it obviously offended you. Or are you hired now by Fodors to police this site for questions that you personally feel are not important?

Yes, I've been accused of being a "whiner", and now I am whining. I promise no matter how idiotic your next post is, I will keep quiet. It's clear this is a no win situation anyway. You are obviously right, and the rest of us are obviously wrong.
It seems that WildBill is here to antagonize everyone. He certainly has not answered Anthony's question, nor has he answered the question as to why he has bothered to read and comment on this thread. All he has done is say "you have made my point." WildBill, all you have done is criticize. You have nothing to offer. When did you become so superior that you can tell the rest of us who has a worthy question, and who does not?

WildBill, if you feel the need to be able to make the rules, then create your own website. Become the webmaster, so that you can edit at will. All you seem to do is beg for attention here and create controversy. Well, you have done what you intended to do, so pat yourself on the back and go on your merry way.

Now, I would like to pose another question about "The Producers". I have not seen it, and when I do, it will be after Lane and Broderick have left the cast. Stephen Webber from "Wings" will be taking over Broderick's role, and a well-known British actor (the name escapes me) will be taking over Lane's role. Here's the question, are the current ticket prices justifiable for the performances of these actors?
Gee thanks, california girl, for equating a jerk like wild bill to being a new yorker.
Leslie, you've asked a question that's impossible to answer, since neither of them have performed the show before an audience!
I will add, however, that I think the show is such a strong one that it'll thrive and still be a damned good show even after Lane and Broderick leave. For example, I've gotten feedback that Lane's understudy Brad Oscar (who normally plays the German playwright) has been outstanding filling in for Lane.
I guess what I'm really saying is that, assuming the new leads do a good job, the show will still be worth the money!
Howard, thanks for your opinion. My reason for asking the question is that Steven Webber is not a first-rate Broadway actor. I don't think he would have been the first choice for Broderick's role if Broderick hadn't been considered. I think Webber is more well known for being on "Wings" and some other cancelled comedy. He may very well be excellent in the role, I just don't know if he will draw an audience, or if is the show and all of its Tony awards that will actually draw the audience. As a frequent theatre goer, you just know that you're going to see a great performance if Broderick or Lane are in a show, because they are great Broadway actors. But, I will be interested in reading the critics' reviews.

Now onto WildBill. It's quite obvious he isn't from New York, because New Yorkers are proud of New York, and will answer any question regarding tourism, especially in NYC. My hats off to all of you. Now WildBill, notice the "Wild" in his name, he's more like a chimpanzee with a banana scratching himself in a cage looking for attention. He's a freak of nature, and belongs in a side show. He couldn't even get himself a cage in the Bronx Zoo. Such a pity.
All right, I know I said I wouldn't post again, but this is in reply to Leslie, not to anything else.

I think Steven Webber has received some rave theatre reviews -- didn't he do the original production of Jeffry to great acclaim? By his not being a first rate actor, I am assuming you mean that he is not as well known, not necessarily any less talented.
No he may not draw a crowd, but I think what Howard is saying, The Producers is now a show that doesn't need name talent to draw the crowds. The show will stand on its own merits and is sure to sell out for a long time.
