How much for a cab from Long Island to Manhattan?
The title pretty much says it all...last year I took a cab from LGA to Manhattan and the fare was something like $30. Could anyone tell me roughly how much it is from the airport on Long Isle? (ISLIP)

It'll cost you an arm and a leg, at the minimum.

There's a better way. Take the cab to the nearest LIRR station and take the train.

For more info check out:
http://www.macarthurairport.com/pages/transportbod.html#Anchor-50393

i think the LIRR is the way to go. At the wrong time of day (and in the case of the LIE that could be all-day), the traffic could be horrible. Stick to the train.

There is a $5 cabfare from the airport to the Ronkonkoma train station. Then an hour and 1/2 train ride to Penn Station in NYC. Cost approx $10.

You can call a few car services and get their flat fee Tel Aviv 212 777-7777 Carmel 212-666-6666

What time of day are you flying in and what day of the week? The Long Island Expressway can be a real bitch!

Thanks for the (serious) responses. I am throwing this trip together at the very last minute, friends have just called saying that they're arriving from London to New York THIS FRIDAY! I'm flying from Kansas City and noticed a very cheap fare from Southwest which only flys into Long Island. On previous trips to NYC I've landed in LGA with no hassles so was very curious about ISLIP.

The Long Island Railroad is your best bet. A car service and/or a taxi will cost you about $125/each way to/from Islip-Manhattan
