How much could Disneyland charge before you would just not go?
 

THe cost to go to a Disney theme park keeps going up. Now it is about $50.00. We decided during our last trip to Orland that the cost is just to high and decided to go to other attractions.<BR><BR>How about you? How much could Disney charge before it would make you not go?<BR>(No I do not work for Disney and this is not a marketing company survey!)

Disney in Orlando has been $50 a person for a while now. It's ok for a once a year thing for my husband and I but way too expensive to take a family. In order to qualify for a childrens rate, I think you have to be under 6. Everything over is considered an adult.

Just about what they charge right now.

I wouldn't go even if they lowered the price.

They would have to pay me to go.

at first blush 50/person sounds high but when you think about it, its not-you're getting 12-15 hours of entertainment for your ticket. When I pay $60 for an NHL hockey ticket, $50 for an NFL ticket, $25-100 or more for a theatre ticket and, heck, 8 bucks for a movie, all of which last less than 3 hours, some would consider it a bargain. Its just a question of what you want to spend your entertainment money on.

You can't pay ME enough to go to that disaster area. Here come the Disney Kids to start saying how great it is. I can go to Paris for 2 weeks for what you will spend in Disney in 1. Do you kids a favor & TEACH them something instead of entertaining them...

Since when do vacations for 5 yr olds have to be educational? Aren't they in school for 9 months a year?<BR><BR>Have fun & enjoy your time with them while they are young, it won't last very long.

Great, more parents who think their kids learn everything in school. i would think life experiences would be much more valuable...??

I don't think kids learn everything in school.<BR><BR>I just don't think vacations have to be geared toward educational activities. Particularly when they are young.

They are like sponges when they are young & those are the most important years in forming your childs future. I'm certainly not against fun, just the commercialized Disney crap that people w/little or no imagination view as fun. I sympathize w/your children.

Something tells me Disney has already figured out the answer to that question.

I think that if Disneyland was the only place a family went on vacation, then the kids are missing out, but if the family goes to Disneyland 1 year and someplace educational the next or combines a trip to Disneyland with other activities, I don't see a problem with it. <BR><BR>Back to the original question, $50 a ticket is pretty steep, but right in line with other California ammusement parks that offer a lot less. At $50 a ticket I would go once. If the price is raised, I probably wouldn't go at all.

Oh Puhleeze Teach, like a week at Disney is going to malform those tender young brains! My nieces went to Disney on vacations, one is in Med School at UCLA, one is getting her Masters in Public Administration at Harvard, and the third is in her first year at Mount Holyoke after graduating as salutatorian. <BR><BR>However did they do it after having been exposed to the Mouse?<BR><BR>And you can't take your kids to Paris for 2 weeks for the same price as a week at Disney. I know, I've done both.

I'm guessing that Teach is the type of person who chastises people for watching tv, then turns around and secretly cranks up the newly purchased widescreen. "But the tv is for educational programs ONLY! Really!"

Teach is a 16 year old boy who wants to go to Disney but can't and then projects his anger and frustration towards anyone who can.<BR><BR>You see this same behavoir ad nauseum on this board when the subject of Disney comes up.<BR><BR><BR>The Disnety critics seem to worry about Disney a lot more than those of us who went and enjoyed it and moved on.

I first went to Disneyland when I was 7 (31 years ago). It was one of my most cherished memories; the fun our family had that day lasted long enough that I would say every kid ought to go there once in their lives - preferrably before the age of 13!<BR><BR>I've been back over the years about 5-6 times - always because a friend's child or children wanted to go, and the parents didn't feel up to it. Yes, it's expensive...however, taking a kid to a place they are going to get so much pure enjoyment out of, more than makes up for the cost - to me.<BR>-M
