I stay in a job (11 years) because i get/earn/am entitled to 7 weeks pto plus 12 holidays a year...besides i am a web producer, love my job which consists of drinking coffee, talking to people and surfin the net.... lol.... btw i also get to tell jokes and discuss sports, current events etc. in connection with my 9-5 job. i am also working on convincing my employer to go flextime so i can leverage that pto and holidays into as many more trips as possible. don't get me wrong i work hard for my employer as well as doing some self employment to finance all this travel stuff.....but gee i am entitled, i add to society, not subtract from it ....btw i am also an employer that gives a lot of paid time off to my employees...am i missing something in my life that i would rather be traveling vs. staying home?? i digress...sorry...to answer the original question...2 big trips (3+ weeks, one little week trip and as many long weekends 4-5 days as possible..

Olga:

You are missing the point entirely. Of course I am entitled to anything that I want with regards to my job. If I want to take 2 months vacation than that is my right to do so. Do you know why? The reason is that I have my own business and work for myself. Therefore any benefits that I receive come directly out of my pocket. By carefully planning my work, I am able to keep the financial impact fairly low but it still is my money.

You feel that you are entitled to something that comes out of somebody else's pocket. You probably are entitled to a vacation and most employers do give vacation time. However that should be negotiated and agreed upon before accepting employment.
