Hi!
So far I have been to 30 states plus DC. That does not count airport layovers or the 8 or 9 extra states I was in as a 2 year old on a cross country trip (since I don't remember it). It does count drive-throughs if I at least got out for lunch or something. I have been to Puerto Rico, but not Guam.
I have been to 10 countries outside the U.S.
Not a bad start, but lots left to do and see!! Happy travels!

Just picked up Montana last week, so I guess I'm down to 43. Still need Hawaii, Vermont, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Delaware, North Dakota and South Dakota.

If all goes as planned we'll cross off Hawaii next year . Delaware and the New England states should be fairly easy, but but I'm not so sure about those pesky Dakotas...

Husband has been to all 50. Sons ages 7 and 9 have been to 20.

Alfisol, we offer you and everyone else who hasn't been to the beautiful state of Mississippi a welcome invitation! Put us at the top of your list. I moved to Mississippi 25 years ago from FL to go to school and haven't left. It is a wonderful, gracious place and the people are some of the kindest anywhere. Hope to see you soon. P.S. I've been to 36 states.

I certainly have not been to enough of our beautiful states. Need to count how many I have been to-but way short of most of you.

Mississippigirl, your post makes Mississippi sound delightful.

I’ve been to 43 states + D.C. The states I’m missing are Hawaii, Alaska, Oregon, Washington, Oklahoma, Nebraska, and Vermont. And I’ve managed to take in 22 national parks.

All 50 thanks to a business trip to Alaska my husband had a few years ago. Mr. "It Isn't A Vacation Without A Beach" didn't want to go but now he says its the best trip we've ever taken and he wants to go back.

I made it to all of the 48 "lower" states and DC by the time I was 15 thanks to my teacher mom and barber dad who drove my brother around in a truck camper for at least a month every summer. I've seen so many presidents birthplaces and gravesights.... And that corn palace in Iowa...what is that about?

I also very clearly rememeber refusing to get out of the camper for another photo op at the Badlands telling my mom, "If you've seen the Badlands once you've seen them enough!"

48 + D.C. I'm missing Alaska and North Dakota. I'm hoping to do a cruise to Alaska soon, and then I'll have to make a trip to see N. D. (and Minnesota, which I only passed through on a car trip when I was quite young). All these states were visited by car, but a few were just drive throughs.

45 for me. No counting airport layovers either.

I'm missing Vermont, North Dakota, Oregon, Alaska & Hawaii. Don't think I'll polish off the last five in a single trip.

I've been to 37 (actually been in, not just airport). I'd eventually like to visit every state but I'm more interested in traveling abroad right now(I've only been to 12 countries but will be adding on shortly) so the states I have yet to visit will have to wait a little while.

Fun poll!

Getting a bit farther from home now...

NC, SC, GA, FL,

Hey - more than half way there! (hope I didn't miss any)

stood on the Four Corners - does that count for Utah and New Mexico in addition to CO and AZ?

I've been to 31 states. I recommend whenever you take your trip to Mississippi that you travel to Vicksburg. Traveling down Hwy 61 is a nice scenic view and you get a feel for Mississippi. While your at Vicksburg, go through the Civil War National Military Park. Nice visitor center, driving tour, etc.

Hmm..long running thread.

34 + D.C. Not counting airport layovers. Good chance of adding NH in the next couple of weeks. Mostly missing states out west and a few New England states.

23 plus DC (my criteria are overnights).

I've managed to avoid most of the middle of the country entirely!
