quite a few. I went on a special architectural tour of the dome of the Texas state house and found out that the entire dome and pillars are made of tin and painted to look like stone.

The worst one in my opinion is ND. Its a tall square office looking building. The one in AK is so unimpressive I walked right by it and didn't even know it. I thought it was a post office.

None. Have never felt any need to - esp since for some arcane reason Albany is the capitol of New York.

I can only remember being in 2 state capitol buildings:

Utah - I got lost in SLC, passed it 5 times, needed to stretch my legs, and figured why not?
New York - and that was for a meeting!

nytraveler, I have a feeling that if NYC was the capital of NY people outside of NYC would feel even more left out by NYC getting everything.

jorr, you couldnt be further from the truth in regards to the ak building resembling a post office.

before your post, i never knew what it looked like, but assumed since alaska is such a visually captivating state, it would be majestic and have some flair...i was wrong.

heres a link with a pic of it, for those that are curious.

Since you asked, I've photographed 47 state capitols. I lived in Austin TX for nine years and (incredibly) I can't find any photos I took of the capitol. I've yet to see the capitols of Oregon and Washington.

Though twice a month I am a volunteer tour guide in the Ohio Capitol (We call it the State House.), I have only been inside of four working capitols: Kentucky, Georgia (many years ago), Hawai'i, and Ohio. I have driven by a few others.

I work 2 blocks from the TX capitol and I've taken many out of town guests there. Jorr, I'll have to look into that architectural tour of the TX Capitol Dome.

Also visited:

OK
NM
CA
HI
AR
US (in Wash DC, does that count?)

I've driven past many more, but those are the only ones where I've gone in.

Mireaux--
As I noted, even though I lived in Austin for nine years, I don't know if I ever bothered to photograph the Texas State Capitol there. That's the one I saw (literally 1000's of times) but never took a photo of -- at least, none that I can find.
