How Many Hours to Drive from Yosemite to Cambria (Moonstone Beach) mid week in August?Nofrom Long to travel from F

As part of our family vacation we will be driving from Yosemite to Cambria (Moonstone Beach). We will be traveling mid week and I plan on leaving Yosemite right after (or before!) breakfast. Can someone tell me how long a ride we are looking at? Any decent stops along the way? Thanks, Susan.

Did you ever get an answer to your question? I'd like to know how long the drive is between San Luis Obispo and Yosemite and then to LA.

From Yosemite (in the Valley) I think you are about an hour and a half from Fresno and from there, it is exactly one hour (on Highway 41) to Kettleman City and another hour to Paso Robles. When you get there, you'll go south on the 101 just a few miles until you follow the signs (41 east) to Cambria... at least 45 minutes to an hour. My guess is six hours... more plus stops. There are very few places in between so plan to eat, get gas or use the facilities in one of them. Yes... just after you merge from the 41 onto the 46... in the tiny town of Cholame... there is a memorial for James Dean who died near there. The food at Jack's Cafe is yummy, I like the burritos! I've made it from Fresno to LA (La Canada) in under three hours... all depends on which part of LA you're trying to reach.

Thank you moneygirl, I now think that we are going to go from Yosemite to San Simeon, visit Hearst Castle and then head to Cambria and our hotel. If we leave early in the morning we should be fine.

Bring a sweatshirt! When it's warm in the San Joaquin Valley it is foggy and cold here! I live in Grover Beach and we haven't seen the sun in days. Cambria is often the same way. You''l be going from one extreme to the other. Enjoy your trip. When in Cambria, try to eat at Robin's for lunch or dinner. Also, the Sea Chest is wonderful for a relaxing evening.
