How Many Fodorites Does It Take To Screw In A Lightbulb?

This post disappeared just as I got really aggravated by responses to several posts here. I looked for it because I wanted to add ONE more fodorite to the list:

There must be at least one to make the discussion political. Should you turn it left or turn it right? And who is left in the dark vs. who is benefiting from the new light? It certainly cannot be an altruistic endeavor.

GRRRRRRRRRRRR!

npurpleh2 Aug 21st, 2006 04:57 PM

aaww....somehow I missed it... anyone willing to say what made it so controversial??

starrsville Aug 21st, 2006 04:58 PM

I think it was pulled in the midst of bigal's day of fun and games.

pollyvw Aug 21st, 2006 06:11 PM

NO...I am not bigal.

JAGIRL Aug 21st, 2006 06:21 PM

what did I miss ? :))

Was it ever figured out? How many Fodorites does it take to change a light bulb?

AustinTraveler Aug 21st, 2006 06:39 PM

Actually, I'm sorry to hear the thread was pulled too. It was quite ingenious and took me a while to figure out.

The thread was actually started as a parody of this forum and basically mocked how the posters respond to many of the questions asked here.

It was in a way making fun of the "community" here and it was interesting how everyone's contributions to the thread just cemented the original poster's opinions.

I didn't take it as being negative in any way although I suspect that's why it was started. I just thought it was funny in one of those suddle, most people don't get it kind of ways.

just one, but he/she first must decide whether to use the Fodor's or Frommer's manual for bulb-changing info and technique :)

JAGIRL Aug 21st, 2006 07:22 PM

What should I wear to change the lightbulb? Are blue jeans and white sneakers o.k?

kswl Aug 21st, 2006 07:35 PM

. . . and if you are from a Certain European Country, you may also wear black socks with sandals!

Americans change the bulb thanking God that, in our country, people are free to change it any **darn** way they want to!

Europeans smile knowingly at the gauche, enthusiastic Yanks, very happy that their own bulb-changing is traditional and therefore more satisfying, more cultural, and burns more calories.

Certain posters have been known to swear that you could, really, change the bulb by remote control with your PDA, if only you would take the time to read the manual and instructions from 10 different websites to learn how.

If anyone saved the original, please post it on some website and provide a link here. It was hilarious!

JAGIRL Aug 22nd, 2006 05:41 AM

and PLEASE remember to tinyurl the link!!!

:D

starrsville Aug 22nd, 2006 05:46 AM

what's a suddle?

kswl Aug 22nd, 2006 06:33 AM

I believe the word Austin was looking for is subtle.

Kal Aug 22nd, 2006 06:38 AM

Two...but it better be big and made of unbreakable glass.

[-X "suddle" is when you are sitting on the couch watching TV with a loved one and cuddling. Sit+cuddle=suddle.
