How many days between Santa Fe and Taos?
 

Hi, <BR> <BR>I am going to Santa Fe/Taos for 4 days. Should I stay in Santa Fe the whole time and just visit Taos or is it worth spending 2 nights in each, or is Taos too small to spend 2 nights there? Would appreciate any info! <BR> <BR>I have seen lots of hotel recommendations for Santa Fe, but hardly any for Taos - can anyone recommend a nice hotel there - round about the $150 price range? <BR> <BR>Thanks, <BR> <BR>Laura

Laura: Sorry, the last post I didn't get to complete,my mistake. If you only have 4 days, I would stay in Taos for 1 day & the other 3 days in Santa Fe. My wife & I visited the area recently. During our 3 days in Santa Fe, we drove up to Taos for an afternoon. Taos is very remote & about an hour & a half drive above Santa Fe. You need to spend at least a day there, there's a lot of driving involved. Can't help you too much on Taos accomodations.

Probably you should spend 3 days in Santa Fe, one in Taos. You could even spend them all in Santa Fe, and make a visit to Taos a day trip (driving from Santa Fe to Taos via the "high road", and then returning back via highway, is a popular option. It'll be an all-day outing. You can spend a couple of hours shopping/dining in Taos, another hour or two visiting the Pueblo (which is very interesting to see). However, if you are into things like hot air balooning and river rafting, Taos has lots more of those, and in that case you might want to spend half your trip in Taos.
