How long in Williamsburg?

We'll be going to Williamsburg in early October. Suggestions as to how long it will take to see the major sights there and good places to stay (150-175 a night)? Thanks!

If you just want to do Colonial Williamsburg, you need two days for that as not everything is open every day. I highly recommend doing some of the shows in the evening. They are more money beyond the regular pass but, in my opinion, well worth it. One favorite is "Cry Witch" where you attend a witch trial.

For Jamestown and Yorktown you need at least an additional day--maybe two if you are like me and don't like to rush through things.

There are plenty of things to see in the area beyond Williamsburg such as Nauticus in Norfolk, Virginia Beach and the aquarium in Virginia Beach (not the largest, but still nice).

I don't know the prices of hotel rooms since I live here but I would suggest that you start with the Colonial Williamsburg Hotels and then check your favorite hotel chain since all are represented here and all are close to everything.

We made the mistake of going in August without reservations. There was a college thing going on and it was very hard to get a room.

I went in October and it was lovely. I got a great deal at the Williamsburg Inn (I think that is the name??) ... it was a nice time of the year to be in Virginia - enjoy.
