How long does it take...
I have a question for people who have traveled to Las Vegas and then went on to either the Hoover Dam or the Grand Canyon National Park.

Here goes:

1. What is the average time to drive to the Hoover Dam from Las Vegas? How long does it take to tour the dam?

2. How long does it take to get from Las Vegas to the Grand Canyon National Park? Is the GC Nat'l Park worth going to?

3. Would a tour (bus, airplane) from Las Vegas be better than driving to either of those places? Was thinking about the plane tour from a company out of Las Vegas.

Does anyone have any experiences with any of these companies and are they reputable?

Thanks,
Margaritaville Dan

Put down the margarita and go buy yourself a good road atlas which lists driving times. Walmart has Rand McNally atlases with accurate times.

Agree with poster above, and you can get tour times from a free AAA book or via a website. Not difficult to research, simply requires a modicum of effort.

As far as anyone else deciding if GCNP or a plane trip is "worth it" to YOU, how would anyone else know what you consider "worth it" or not? Only you can decide. Sounds like you need to sober up Dan and do a little research for your own trip.

Hoover Dam is an hour or so from Vegas. I can't speak for the rest.

I'd take a bus from Vegas, we did and it took a lot of hassle out of the trip. The tour of the dam is somewhat shorter now because you don't get to go down in it like you used to.

Please correct me if I'm wrong, but a friend who just returned from Las Vegas reported that Hoover Dam is closed to tourists because of security concerns. She took a bus trip to the Grand Canyon and I suspect she went to the North Rim bacause traffic is curtailed through the Dam area.
