To get from Kanab, Utah to the entrance of the park will take about an hour and a half. Then it's another 15 minutes to the rim. That is of course if you don't get stuck behind a slow driving RV then you can add another 1/2 hour or so.
From Jacob Lake to the rim it's about 40 miles of slow curvy road with not a lot of places to pass or let cars pass. You will have to drive that same stretch once you leave the N. Rim on your way to Zion.
