I also agree that you're looking to early.

As for Pleasant Holidays and Custom Classic Vacations, I'm honestly didn't think their prices were all that great. Before my vacation stalled, they were both higher than what I was finding myself. Later, after our vacation went from "stop" to "go", I checked both PH and CCV again and they REALLY high this time around. Our total costs for our Hawaiian vacation (including EVERYTHING we did and yes, I do mean food) ended up being just slightly higher than those first quotes PH and CCV gave me (and this was with everything being much higher due to us having to book closer to the time of our trip).

Still, PH and CCV might work for you.

Does seem high. I live in California so only paid $255 each RT for pacific flight. Then we only flew one interisland flight from Oahu to BI for $120 each so total flights about $650 with taxes.

We rented a car on the BI and Oahu, but not a convertible got a web special for both cars ending up spending roughly $300 for the cars for 10 days in Hawaii.

We used priceline for the first 3 days in Oahu-- ended up with Royal Hawaiian garden rooms for $90 per night (the pink hotel). We wanted to spend time at the Volcano so stayed inexpensively in Hilo for 5 nights at $79 per night @ Dolphin Bay (not honeymoon style but very pleasant--Siamese cat like mine at home roamed about the place!) and did a lot of hiking and exploring. I loved going to the top of Mauna Kea at sunset! ($55 dollars each for guided drive up with Arnotts Lodge). Also loved Place of Refuge-- lots of turtles. I liked Hilo-- it was October, not really much rain and so nice and lush. Hapuna beach and Waipo Valley were nice, went horseback riding--so fun!

Anyway, sigh, back to dollars....

We returned to Oahu for the last couple days and had an Oceanfront corner view room on the 12th floor of Pacific Beach hotel for $93 a night from cheap tickets.

The whole trip was awesome, and I would do it again.

93 x 2/ 79 x 5 / 90 x 3 = 10 nights for $851

So not counting meals and activities cost was about $2500.

You might try American Airlines Vacation Packages. We're going to BI in Dec- air fare was astronomical. I called AA Vacations and got over 200 dollars knocked off each of four airline tickets when we did a car/air package. I also agree that it is a little early. But half the fun is planning! J

Hawaii travel is almost back to pre 9/11 numbers so the discounts aren't as good as they were not too long ago. I've noticed that the 4S is becoming picky with their discounts to consolidators. It is time consuming, but it is also worth it to look into all of the airlines travel packages- and price hotel only. Then there's always www.funjetvacations.com but personally I have found better discounts elsewhere.

Thank you so much everyone for your advice. I guess I'm just anxious to book! Sounds like I should sit tight for a while.

Don't sit tight, but keep monitoring the rates and a fares. Sometimes a fare will be available for a very short time. I sign up for all of the airlines email notices and for weekly emails from sites like Travelzoo. You can also sign up for farefinder alerts at Yahoo and other sites.
Happy Hunting!
