How is the weather
in California in New Year? Is it sunny and warm? Thanks for your replies.
|
Where in California? It can really vary from one area to another.
|
What part of California are you asking about?

Along the north and central coast and through the central valley it will probably be cold and rainy. In the Sierra Nevada it will probably be cold and snowy. In southern California it might be sunny.
|
You're up for one of the worst headers of the day. Probably would have been better to have the section of California in your header. Big state - lots of different weather - your guess is as good as mine based on what you gave us.
|
I was thinking of San Francisco but I didn't know there could be differences in all California. Also, can anyone tell me if the Sonoma area is very far from San Francisco, how long does it take to get there? Many thanks
|
It has nothing to do with you being European. Americans post on the Europe forum all the time and do just fine with their headers.

California is larger than most European countries. Did you really think that the weather would be the same throughout the whole state?

San Francisco is going to be cold, damp and likely foggy. Not the best month for visiting San Francisco. Pull up mapquest.com if you want to know the route, distance and time to Sonoma.
|
Carol, weatherunderground.com and map quest would probably amswer any questions you have.
|
Carol you never really know what our weather will be like. Last year right after New Years it was sunny and temps in the 70's in San Francisco. This year is supposed to be an El Nino year so it could be very rainy. We can get a huge storm one day and the next day can be sunny and warm. Best to just be prepared.
|
Thanks a lot, I'm checking both sites.
|
The weather in Orlando right now (2:30pm EST) is 95 degrees, hot & sunny.

Carol,

Pay no mind to these bashers. You have asked a perfectly ligitimate question that I will be happy to answer.

You have a simple question, and I'm sure it is based on much research.

Now, when you say "Californa in New Year", I must assume that you mean January, 2003. You are only asking for a weather forecast four months in advance.
No problem.

Here, then, is my forecast:(by the way, the United States Weather Bureau might want to take note. They have trouble forecasting the weather for tommorrow).

Partial sun, some rain (some places), may snow (some places). Temps in the low teens (or lower) (someplaces), to mid 60s (someplaces). Could also see some "Tule" fog from Sacramento to Bakersfield.

I really hope this helps. We also appreciate your asking a very intelligent question that is easily anwered.

By the way, what will the weather be like in January, 2003 where you are?

Weather Wizard

It isn't just the header, these folks are taking a trip and haven't got the slightest clue about anything!
If an American asked what is the weather in England in December, you know there would be plenty of ridicule. If Carol is visiting California, don't you think she would know what it looks like on a map?
That people even ask what the weather is going to be Anywhere, Anytime is beyond me!!!The weathermen never even know!
|
Carol,

The weather does vary enormously in California. Northern CA in winter will probably be wet/windy and cold. Southern CA is a better choice for nicer weather in winter. I live in San Diego, and the weather in Jan is usually sunny everyday (temp: 65-75 F) and cool at night (45-65 F). However, we sometimes get that freak rain/cold and it can last up to a week (but that is less likely). If you have any further questions, feel free to email me. Good luck.

This thread is fun. Continue.

I think you people might want to calm down, pour yourself a nice glass of wine and a watch lovely movie or read nice little book.

Carol, dress in layers. Enoy your trip to California,it's a wonderful place.

to the other fun posts in this thread? It was waaay more fun before someone ran to Momma!

Cranky, go check the European branch. There people ask questions like: What is the weather like in EUROPE in December? (whole continent from Sicily to the Arctic Ocean). And: Where in Europe it is best for Christmas/New Year.
