How is the 4 Seasons BI different from the 4S Maui?

Which do you prefer? I realize that the one in Maui is on a better beach and that the one on the BI is smaller, more intimate. Can anyone give me more details? Thanks!

The 4Seasons Hualalai (Big Island) have small lowrise buildings scattered throughout the property; it is pretty secluded and quiet, if that's what you want. Not much beach or anything else. The Wailea hotel is a typical highrise but still elegant, a lot more going on in Wailea--better beach, restaurants, shopping.

Much, much more traffic at the 4S Maui. Many, many more kids also. IMO dining is better at BI hotel. Easier to find a secluded spot at BI and there is an adults only pool.

The FS Maui is not really a "high rise". It's 5 stories.

The advantages of the Maui FS are better beach, proximity to many other great restaurants, shopping access, close to other activities on the island compared with the Hualalai.
Disadvantages: feels a bit busier (but nothing like the Hyatt, Westin, Sheraton, Grand Wailea), many rooms have mediocre views.
The advantages of the Hualalai are seclusion, better pools, slightly nicer rooms (IMO).
Disadvantages: it's a looong way from everything else you'd want to see on the BI, which means eating elsewhere is a hassle, beach is not great.
But these are both top notch hotels. Hard to go wrong either way if they are your style.
