My husband says "al OOOO min EE um" but of course he was born in England and reserves the right to speak English whenever he chooses. :d
About GTs--we just had one in Indianapolis and one of the most widely travelled Fodorites in our group said "FOH-doors" and you know what? None of us batted an eyelash. Which leads me to think, it's not about the pronunciation...it's about where you travel. |
More importantly, how do you pronounce "nuclear?"
|
elaine, Ran dom House !! LOL
I even know how to pronounce Oregon Or e Gun. :D |
Frankly, I was glad to see this question and the answer. I have always pronounced Fodors "F + odors". However, I have a good friend that says Pho-doors. So I have always wondered who was right - and had hoped I wasn't saying it wrong all the time.

Can you explain the difference you are suggesting in PH vs F sounds?
|
I mean no disrespect to the white house or any other house but perhaps...just maybe.....the pronunciation is.......nuke---you---laur----a bush....meaning no disrespect, but that is the way our leader says it.....nuclear!
