How is Dinsey Polynesian Hotel

My family is going to FLA this summer. Has anyone ever stayed at the Polynesian Hotel in Disney? I want something special. I've been to Coronado and All Star Sports. I would also like advice on Ft. Lauderdale's Marriott Beach Resort. I have children ages 9 and 11.

Hi,
Comparing the all sports resort to the Polynesian is like comparing apples to oranges. The Polynesian is wonderful. The rooms are a lot larger, the hotel is much nicer, the pools are better, the restaurants are better, etc... You will be highly impressed after staying at the all sports resort.
I stayed at the Polynesian resort a couple years ago, it is a lovely resort. They have a manmade beach where you can watch the fireworks from the Magic Kingdom at night. The pools are great! It's also convenient because the monorail makes a stop at the hotel, esp if you want to take a nap in the middle of the day. Don't miss out the luau your family will really enjoy it! Have Fun!!

You will love the Polynesian. To us it seems we are back in Hawaii when we are at the Polynesian. On the other hand, we wouldn't even recommend the All Star to anyone.

I just got back from trip 19. YOu can't go wrong at the Polynesian. Make sure you check out the Electrical Water Parade on the lagoon. You can watch it from the Marina. They are building a new pool at the Polynesian, but I don't recall if it will be ready by the summer. I have no problem with the All-Star Resorts; our stays their have been perfectly fine. However, they cannot be compared to the Polynesian in any way.

The Polynesian has a dinner show that is done outside featuring dancing from all the different island groups: well worth booking ahead. Food is good quality also. But as nice as the Polynesian is, IMHO I would not stay there. It is an older property and right in the main traffic pattern. Of course it is much, much better than the All Sports. Because of various family outings and also winning a free trip from a college 5 years ago, I have stayed at several different WDW properties. I would do the Yacht Club at that price range or one of the other new properties on Lake Buena Vista. Watersports are better and also you can see EPCOT etc. sky shows. Every common lobby, wash room etc. in the Polynesian was used in mass by the traveling public when I was there. Actually seemed like a train station or airport store regardless of the beautiful decoration.

We stayed at the Polynesian several years back and really enjoyed it.I can't say it had the most beautiful rooms I've ever stayed in but they were a nice size and the pool and beach was very nice (though we didn't seem to have much time to use them.) The main asset to staying at the Polynesian in my opinion is that you are right next door to the Transportation center where you can catch the monorail to either the Epcot Center or the Magic Kingdom. You can walk right over for the express rail instead of waiting in front of the hotel or having to ride a bus. Good luck and have fun.

We've stayed at the Polynesian several times and loved it. I don't think any of the other posters have mentioned what I think is a key asset: the day bed. When we've stayed there, our kids (a boy and a girl) haven't had to sleep in the same bed. (Although we've since discovered that Disney WILL provide rollaways, for a reasonable fee.)

We did eat there recently, when staying at another hotel, and were disappointed in the big restaurant--can't remember its name. In fact, we were appalled. But things change quickly, and perhaps they got enough negative feedback to change things.

At that price range, Beach Club (like Yacht Club) is also great. And we loved the Wilderness Lodge, where we stayed last time. If you can, at least have dinner there, at the Whispering Cliffs (or is it Whispering Canyon?).

You can't beat the Polynesian's access to the parks.
