You know, this message was stupid when first posted, and it remains so. Why did you guys resurrect this dumbness? And CW, I'm sure your hubby is thrilled with what you say about him to a bunch of strangers. I'm thinking about a vacation from Fodor's for the foreseeable future. You'll probably be glad, and I know I will. Between this problem peopel seem to have about KW and all the Q's on Hawaii ... well, at least it gives WDW a rest. Take care, and ciao!

They allow public gayness in Key West, Florida?
If they're that permissive, do they allow public drug use too?

Friends_of Apr 18th, 2001 04:52 AM

Chris,

I know what you mean about public drug use. I saw people taking aspirin right out in the open.

And, if you can imagine, they even have a Drug Store that is open to the public.
Sure they might sell other things. but the store is loaded with all kinds of drugs. Can you imagine that, right out in the open a Drug Store...and I heard that the Federal Government even knows about this store and the drugs it sells.
I'm NOT going bald, I'm just getting more head... The protuberance at my waistline is NOT a 'beer gut' - it's a fuel tank for a Sex Machine. ( Both seen on T-shirts on sale in KW ). I LIKE to hold hands with my Wife ( I'm a romantic but she thinks I'm a Homophobe ).

Let's let this one die now. Original post is over 3 months old. He probably already made his decision and returned from his trip. Thank you all for your comments.

Ok children, I KNOW I should just let it go but I just can't help myself...
Just for drill, go back up to the original post..and substitute .black, Jewish, or any other minority into that question and I think it will dawn on you just how sad it is..after 2000 years I would THINK you folks would of
wised up..but NOOOOOOOO...think I'm going to have to come down there and kick some butt!!!

My 21 year old nephew went to the Keys on a diving/fishing trip. Although they spent most of their time elsewhere, they did venture into Key West. They said they noticed some gays, but also many non-gays. Certain bars were frequented predominantly be various groups, i.e. college age, older professional, etc. He had a great time and wasn't bothered by the professionls at all.

OK,now let's talk about Rehoboth Beach, Delaware.

OK, only one person in this entire thread has identified himself as gay out of several dozen posts. I as another gay man must put my two cents worth in to try to even things out a little.

First, thanks to the lady who suggested that the reason her husband's hand suddenly became inseparable from her own while in Provincetown Mass, was his latent homophobia. That may explain why, when I visited Key West for the first time, the first twenty couples I saw holding hands were all male-female couples. But hey, if fear of being pursued by gays leads to straight couples becoming closer, I say, great! We're happy to help.

Second, please be advised that, in spite of what one might believe by reading this thread, Key West is indeed part of the United States of America.

Third, it is very very touristy. I'll join the bandwagon and say that the touristiness of KW is far more noticable than the gay element (unless you yourself is gay, and even then, you will probably be suprised as I was at how overall heterosexual it is).

Fourth, whether you enjoy any vacation (New York, Tulsa, Timbuktu) mainly depends on your mindset; are you tourists or travelers? I think Jason and his family will be fine.

With the onslaught of the cruise ships, the tourists definitely outnumber the gays. IMO, the gays are less bothersome than these polyster clad cruise ship patrons.

too gay if you have to ask!
