How far is W San Diego from LaJolla?

I am interested in the W but want to make sure it is in a good location. I want to spend most of my time in LaJolla. I am also interested in driving to Dana Point from San Diego, is it really far and hard to get to?

No, LaJolla is not far at all, in fact you won't know when you 'leave' San Diego' and 'enter' LaJolla. Mapquest is a good resource so that you can get a better visual. I'm guessing you must be doing points. If not, LaJolla has some good hotels.

You won't know when you "leave" San Diego because you won't "leave" San Diego. La Jolla is a suburb of San Diego.

It will take you about 15 minutes to drive to La Jolla from the W hotel, depending on traffic, but if you're going to be in La Jolla most of the time, why not stay there?

Barbara: that was the point that I was making.

Hi Babs, I was looking to use points but am willing to hear about nice places to stay in Lajolla?

What kind of places do you like? Tje Hotel Parisi, La Valencia, and Grande Colonial are all right in LaJolla. I like GC, but it is not as deluxe as the others. The rooms are large and they have a very good restaurant. It is one of the historic hotels. I believe that LaV is also. I don't remember if any of them are connected to point programs.

There are many lodging choices in La Jolla (two words please), but babs' three selections are all in La Jolla Village-- the part on the coast, by the coves. The nice section. The La Parisi is the high-end choice, the La Valencia is the charming old lady of LJV hotels, and the Grande Colonial has the best on-site restaurant by far (Nine Ten). The GC is a historic property and more like a Big City Hotel in feel than a coastal resort. I happen to love it.

Dana Point isn't particularly hard to get to. I-5 north to CA-1 Beach Cities exit (Orange County), take PCH north into Dana Point. Give yourself 90 minutes, though it will take shorter.
