How far from the San Francisco airport to Fisherman's Wharf?

With a 5 1/2 hour layover, will I have time to take a taxi to have a nice lunch and maybe do some strolling at Fisherman's Wharf?

The airport is out in Burlingame and can seem like hours from the city when having to deal with traffic. I suppose it could be do- able, but depending on the time of day, it could get hectic with traffic.

There are some nice restaurants and a pleasant downtown area in Burlingame. Granted it's no Fisherman's Wharf, but it is an option.

In Burlingame, I like the Redwood City brewery (Used to be called Burlingame station). Nice food and beer.

If you land in the absolute middle of the day and if your flight gets in on time and if your flight goes out before or after rush hour you might think about it. However, I would take a taxi somewhere around SFO instead. There's a Hong Kong Flower Garden Lounge in Millbrae on El Camino which is excellent and very authentic. There's Pisces which is a little sister of the famous Aqua in the city but much more casual and less expensive---still excellent fish which is probably going to be better than the Wharf. And, there's a Kuleto's which is owned by the well known Pat Kuleto, restaurant designer and investor in so many famous SF restaurants. It has recently been announced that SFO has the worst on time record of any airport in the U.S., so rather than risk heartburn, I would stay in the area and have a good meal. BTW the town of Burlingame (not the part near the airport) is pretty nice for browsing and breathing some fresh air.

An upscale restaurant ecently opened in new (or renovated) terminal at SFO; sorry, I don't remember the name, but I've heard positive things about the food.
